I've had an update on Bertie:
"Thought it was high time you had a Bertie update so here goes. He was absolutely wonderful when we had the family get together for Jerry's birthday. He enjoys being with a large group of people and was lovely with the grandchildren. Everyone adores him.
He loves his walks and really enjoys meeting lots of dogs - some of whom we see everyday. He is now more focused on us when out but always more focused on any dogs nearby or in the distance so we still haven't be able to let him have free dog play with other dogs. Although there was one occasion on a country walk we were invited into an enclosed field to play with a lovely pointer, off lead, which he really enjoyed and exhausted him. It was too far from home to easily repeat unfortunately.
We missed the start of local obedience classes but hope to start with a later batch. We have managed to build up the amount of time for which he can be left up 2 hours and he seems ok so far. He still is not really interested in playing with or chasing a ball but really enjoys a game of tug and he will bark if he wants to play. In a few weeks the enclosed training field should be open at Manor Farm, after the winter, and we can regularly let him play with other dogs safely and gradually build some recall when off the lead. Before that he gets to sample the delights of the great French outdoors as we are off to France on April 11th for a few weeks.
We would like to try and come on the SLR walks when possible, and should be around for May and June. I am sure Bertie would be pleased to see you."

We are so happy to see him settled and looking forward to meeting him again very soon on the SLR walks. Enjoy France. We are thinking of doing the same in April/May. Looking for a dog friendly gite.

I bumped into Bertie with Chris and Gerry at Manor Farm yesterday. He is looking great - I'm sure he's grown. He was very pleased to see my lot and would have loved to play, but I was just on my way back to the van, and had to take a dog that I walk to a vet appointment so couldn't stay. Hope Bertie can make it to some of the SLR walks - he would love it.
