Everything has gone very well. Just what Barney and I always wanted. A very happy ending for Mory.
When the owners of Mory approached Jenny to take him in Jenny endeavoured to find ways around their frustration with him. We gave advice and the owners tried to act on that advice. Their major worry was that Mory would cause an accident or be killed on the busy road close to the house. Each time he was let off lead he would not return to the lead; choosing to stay close but not come back or in the house. He seemed to be depressed and aloof from the family and this greatly upset them. Finally, they called and asked for Mory to be taken on board by SLR as the situation was just making them distraught.. We had at that time offered to send round a home visitor to assess the situation, but the family were very distressed, feeling that he was a danger to himself. Reluctantly we took Mory in. After just a few days it was evident that he really needed the company of other dogs. He had stayed with his littermates from birth to 5 months old and the wrench of losing them was too much for him. His owners had kept in touch with us and were following his thread. They were beside themselves with grief at giving Mory up and were being torn apart with sorrow, missing him so much. So..... with our help and hopefully with the help of some members in the area Mory is going home to try again. We are going to be there every step of the way for the family. He has no problems to deal with. He is a normal bouncy Lurcher pup, but a pup who craves canine company. If the solution is to have another dog, perhaps a laid back but playful mate, not necessarily a Lurcher, then the family want to do this. They have missed him so much and realised how much they love him. Just for now, Mory will stay on lead for walks unless a group walk, but having read our forum and followed other member's problems they have realised that Mory is not an insurmountable mountain to climb, but a puppy with needs. We are very happy that Mory is going home. A wonderful home. We need to hear from members who are near to Chesham Bois in Bucks, who will be able to meet up with the family for walks so that Mory can go off lead and have a blast. He is such a lovely dog, who already had such a great family.

I have just rung Sian and she slept on the sofa last night to keep Mory company and just wanted to be near him. She said "we are over the moon that he has been allowed to come home to us and have realized just how much we loved him and have missed him. We will gladly take any advice or help and are so grateful for all the help from SLR. Thank you all so much". Sian's computer is down and she thinks dead so they will be getting a new computer. They need your help. I have one mentor offer from Paula who is near Chesham Bois and if anyone else can travel just a little way to go over and have a walk with Sian and the lovely Mory and talk about all the foibles of owning a bouncy 11 month old puppy lurcher, then please please get in touch. Let's make sure that this family stay together. ;D

I am so pleased, it was so upsetting when I left with Mory and I am really happy that he has gone back home because it was so obvious that he was loved very much. Not sure how much of a good influence Lucy will be though!!!

It's fantastic he's gone home. Well done Jenny and Barney for being there for the family. We wish them well. Will they be joining the forum?

Sian has already joined the forum so that she could watch his progress. ;D And it was that that made them realize that it wasn't Mory that was the problem it was just a lack of experience of a sighthound puppy that was the problem At the moment their computer has died, but Sian will be endeavouring to sort that out shortly, and then obligatory Happy Endings piccies will follow ;D It's one of those things. You don't realize what you have until you lose it, and then when you see that it is not a big problem in life you find the strength to deal with it. I am sure that they will find the stress and the strategies to get through the next six months of that puppyhood ;D
