Boris is booked in for his boy op tomorrow, Tues 29-Dec, so he is on "nil by mouth" tonight. Since he will be restricted to gentle lead walks for the next week we took him, with Jenny's prior agreement, to our doggy daycare group today to meet some non-Lurchers. They are very experienced with managing doggy introductions as it's literally their "day job". As reported by Barney, he is showing signs of being lead reactive; however, once he was taken off lead and then introduced to the other dogs 1-by-1 he calmed down pretty quickly. There were about 5 other dogs in total of various breed types & mixes, plus Comet. This included a tiny, old partially-sighted Yorkie girl, who he ignored. Hooray! Overall, we were there for about 30 mins and Boris handled himself well. He was submissive & hesitant, rather than dominant and showed no signs of aggression. He had a muzzle on throughout just in case he snapped, but that didn't happen. He ran about and played, and was very happy to have his buddy Comet for company/reassurance. We will aim to work on improving his confidence when lead walking over next few weeks. Snoop injured himself yesterday (a tear on his shoulder) and needed stitches today so there will be two dogs needing TLC and no roustabouts, which should make for an interesting week. Poor Comet will have no one to play with! And finally, we've recently acquired a new hobby in the evenings....dog grooming!! Boris' lovely long fur needs a lot of maintenance at this time of year. It gets wet, muddy and collects various foliage during his daily romps. As Steffan mentioned in an earlier post he was matted in a few areas (ears, armpits, bum) but his fur is now almost tangle free and probably a little bit shorter in places too where we've needed to snip out a clump. Fortunately he seems to quite enjoy his daily brushing and usually snoozes through it. (Photos WILL follow. Been busy hosting family over Christmas)

Lovely update. Good luck with the boy op Boris. We often have to tease out tangles in Rowlfs ears but Boris has a lot more long bits!!!

And...if she tries to replace him with something nearly as hairy but dyed (was black and white) we will know!

Boris is back! We're pretty sure it's him, although he's rather subdued. Our boys were happy to see him and are now being good and leaving him alone to recuperate. The hard work begins tomorrow when both he & Snoop want to run & play but won't be allowed to over exert due to their stitches.

Great to hear that Boris is safely home. All 'heal-speedily' vibes winging their way to Boris and to Snoopy from here along with all 'good luck keeping two of your boys quiet and rested over the coming few days' vibes for you both!

I'm really enjoying your updates on this lovely boy! I'm pleased to see that he is back home safely after his op... good luck keeping him calm over the next few days! It's fascinating to see how dogs interact and how they know how to behave in this type of situation.

Not sure which you need more of, healing vibes, or stay calm vibes, so sending a good truckload of both for Boris and Snoop.
