Is London over 200 miles from Essex? I'm geographically hopeless. Would be happy to foster him if you haven't already found someone and if I'm suitable. Have cats and my son's dog until June who gets on with everyone. Would offer to adopt but he's so young and will probably needs loads of exercise - no long runs nearby.

Hello Growltigerkat Boris is already in foster eagerly awaiting his forever sofa. if you'd like to fill out a form to foster there are always dogs, young and old coming in. You would need a homecheck first to check suitability. I think you'd find the forms and email address at the first page of the forum. I foster and currently have a sweet girl with a broken leg. It's sometimes hard (letting them go) but very rewarding to help them along the way. Claire x
Hello everyone! Sorry for going AWOL. After promising an update on the lovely Boris, I then disappeared off to USA for work for 2 weeks. Had every intention of posting an update while there but as you saw it didn't quite work out. Steffan coped quite well with all 3 dogs on his lonesome!
Boris has settled very well. He sleeps well overnight, sometimes waking early (=pre-7am) but slowly learning to be patient and not demand attention the moment he wakes up. He's peaceful during the day. Enjoys going out & about, but also happy to snooze in-between. Wish the same were true of Snoop, who typically gets bored first and let's the whole house know about it. He prefers balls to frisbees. He is an ungainly runner, but also quite fast these days. If the boys are having a game of chase, it's best to stand off to one-side as Boris is a bit of a clumsy oaf. That said, the other 2 are sporting injuries (scrapes needing stitches) whereas he is surprisingly unscathed. He is soppy, and cuddly. He is super gentle. Probably the least aggressive of all 3 dogs, at least with humans. None of them is aggressive, it's just that he is the least likely to react towards a human; even when he was in tremendous pain after his boy op. Loves his food. Takes food from the hand very gently. I trust him with my nieces and their small hands (aged 1 & 6 yrs).
So why is he waiting? He is very lead reactive. Can be variable and using the halti has helped a little. I've been working on the "look" command with him. Admittedly, we haven't taken him on many lead walks of late as we are fortunate to have a huge enclosed space for them to run around in. And with the miserable weather and my travel that has worked well for us alongside some days at daycare.
He is fiesty with new dogs that he doesn't know, but it certainly seems to be all bark and no bite. He goes to our daycare where there is a large mixture of dogs (young, old, large, small) and has no problems. The ladies there adore him. He can jump 6 ft and it's quite impressive to watch him pogoing along our neighbour's fence while he's "talking" with their dogs. He chews. Snoop gave us a few souvenirs from his youthful days and now Boris is adding to the collection. Pretty sure it's behaviour he will grow out of. We tend to give him a verbal signal that he's chewing the wrong thing(s) and pass him an antler or ball. He happily works on those instead.
a few photos below. We've typically been putting him in a coat when outdoors because a) it's been cold or b) it's a prophylactic (minimize risk of injury)
Took a nice vid of the 3 boys romping today so will post that shortly (aka in next 3 months ?! )

I have to hold my hands up & confess that this trait of his wasn't helped by our tendency in this home-kennel to set off for a walk around 5.00 a.m.
What a gorgeous boy Boris is. So pleased I got to meet him before he disappears to his forever home.....because he is too blooming fabulous to wait long!
