Lovely update on this boy, he sounds an absolute sweetheart. I've avoided his thread as he pulls at my heartstrings and I know I cant have another! But I hope his forever sofa is not too far away now xx

That's a really lovely update! I may copycat you over in Boris' thread once he's back to full health and we've seen a bit more of the real him.Oliver sounds & looks like a lovely, lovely boy. I have a super soft spot for him as he reminds me a lot of Snoop in terms of his looks (the Salukiesque features), so I find it particularly sad that he's still waiting. I love the photo of he & Alice snuggled together....they look so cute & innocent, but maybe they're really working on a "cunning plan"!? I really hope a new home comes along for this chap very soon. He's been waiting far, far too long and yet is able to slot into a pack of other hounds pretty easily and has no real issues to worry about. Especially for anyone familiar with lurchers, or just dogs in general. I think it's really important to give as accurate a picture as possible of the dog's overall character, which is always so much more than any issues that they may have. For me it's not about "being honest" and focusing on problems, but about putting all the good and not so good points together in context. Let's face it, every one of us could point to an "issue" that even the almost perfect dogs have but that doesn't stop us loving them. I want the process of finding a new home for Ollie to be a positive one, i.e. about finding the person who can see that Ollie has the sort of character they are looking for rather than a negative one about any issues. If his character works for them and they can see how well he is developing then that's going to help anyone to choose to meet him and see for themselves. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it won't be too long before the right person comes along who understands Lurchers and says I want that type of dog and continuing to teach him not to react when he's on the lead and to be less timid with people is going to be easy to do.

Despite it really being a bit too small for him, Ollie decided early on that he liked the crate I have in my kitchen. I leave the door open so any of the dogs can go in it if they want to. Alice likes it the best, and Ollie likes to take his chews in there away from the other dogs. I was therefore surprised to find this scene when I got up yesterday morning - I have beds all round the house and I never know who will choose which ones, but all of them crammed into these two small spaces was a first, especially Daisy and Ollie together in the crate... Ollie's the one on the left! Evidence, if it's needed that this lovely boy likes being with other dogs and being part of a pack.

With these cold mornings, Maisie can usually be found in bed with Socks at the moment. They do look cute don't they even if it's a bit cramped ! Xx

I see this one going the way of another failed foster...Alice seems very attached too ;-)

Lovely as he is, I can't keep him. I can manage 3, despite Alice being challenging, because Daisy and Comet are so easy, but 4 would be too much on a permanent basis. He has a loving foster home here for as long as it takes to find him a forever home, and hopefully it won't be too long before it comes along.

I went on the Dog Trouble January pack walk with Ollie yesterday. These are really good for him as there are lots of dogs with all sorts of issues but they're all on the lead and under control. It's a perfect opportunity for Ollie to get up close to other dogs without reacting. It's really encouraging to see how he's gradually come round to being more relaxed with other dogs when he's on the lead. As you can see from this clip, he is really comfortable, sniffing around, but he wants to be close to the other dogs and when he gets distracted by a smell he quickly wants to catch up with the dogs in front. He's still a bit shy with people but he's getting there and is the most loving, happy and playful boy at home with me and my dogs.

Lovely pics , so cute all in together. I don't think Ella would like anyone else in "her" crate , she tells Rocky and George off if they stick their heads in . At doggy daycare they all want to go in the crate so it's first come first served, and if you can't get in, just sit on top !

You and your pack are teaching him so much. He is becoming a well rounded dog.

As with all the fosters, Alice is Ollie's new BFF - here he is with Alice in a headlock. Ollie continues to be such an easy dog. He's so affectionate and sweet-natured. His recall is getting really good and he's loving his chases with Daisy. I'll post a video soon of them running together.

I love your updates too Christine. Your patience is really showing results. He has always had a lovely nature, but perhaps the girls are bringing out his softer side?x
