Ollie is proving to be a very easy dog to foster. Here's just some of the good things about this lovely boy: There's no more separation anxiety He's clean in the house He doesn't chew things he's not supposed to He gets on really well with my dogs and is very respectful of them He has no food aggression He likes his treats so is easy to train He learns quickly Walks well on the lead He's a very happy, easy-going boy He loves his toys and will happily play with them on his own He's very affectionate and loves his cuddles He's quite timid when we meet people but this is gradually getting better. He's fascinated by birds and I'm working on reducing this as I don't want him to develop any obsessions. He gets excited when he sees other dogs but this is also gradually getting less as I spend more time walking him at my local park. I haven't let him off the lead yet but will be doing this shortly and will be able to report back on his recall. When I first got him he wasn't very good about coming back when I called him in the garden, and when he did he wouldn't came right up to me but would quickly move away so I couldn't touch him. I've been focusing on this and he now comes when I call him from the garden and he'll sit in front of me ... although if he spots some birds he can suddenly become deaf... but we all know about Lurchers and deafness!!! All in all he's a beautiful, happy, loving, gentle giant (my Daisy can walk under him!). He has the longest, softest ears and the most gentle "melt-your-heart eyes". Here he is doing a spot of bird-watching at the park

Sounds like he is turning into a wonderful companion. I hope it won't be long before he finds his family.

I took Ollie for a "pack walk" on Sunday. It's a monthly walk run by Dog Trouble, the Dog Behaviourist I took Alice to earlier this year. It was really good as all the dogs have to be on the lead and all the dogs have some sort of issue so it was a great opportunity for all the dogs to be relaxed with other dogs close by. Ollie was very good. Although he was obviously anxious about all the dogs at first, he soon settled. There was about 30 of us with dogs of all shapes and sizes, as you can see, including some of Jo's 10 dogs! The centre has a paddock which, as a client, Jo said I can use to let foster dogs off the lead to help with teaching recall, which will be great. Here's Ollie during the walk.

How could anyone watch that and NOT be smitten! Ollie plays so beautifully and so gently...I wish he could teach Alfie how it's done!! Great production work Christine.
