Grace sounds so settled with you. Well done. Accepting a treat from someone else is a big step for Gracie.

Hello Everyone,
Thought it was about time I got the keyboard out and updated everyone on how well Gracie has been doing
Gracie is definitely feeling much more settled and some of her more individual traits have been coming out. She's quickly adjusted to the routine here and is more reliable than my alarm clock in the mornings! She's enjoying her walks, her food and bounds around the garden as if it's an acre field. She's also learned that if she bounces in the corner of the garden she can just about peer over the fence and into next door's garden - so funny to watch!
She seems to be getting a lot of confidence from Jasper and has been dealing well with meeting people when we're out and about, although she is very wary and I'm making sure we keep a good distance so as not to overwhelm her. She's fine with most dogs, but a couple of small dogs we have met have not been her cup of tea at all - a staffie and a small field spaniel have caused particular problems. She's had a couple of runs with Jasper, but she can easily outpace him and that clearly puts his nose out of joint - he's usually the quickest kid on the block!
She likes to cuddle up with you as soon as you happen to sit down for a few seconds, and doesn't seem to realise how sharp her elbows are! She does like to know where I am all the time, but is quite happy to settle quickly once she realises that I'm settling to something too - like eating dinner or making the beds.
There were fireworks out the back this evening. Jasper gets very excited by all the noise and it was hard to tell whether Grace was upset with his reaction or the bangs (she has got upset if he plays too ferociously with his toys). Her place of safety was my bed again, but I can cope with that on a day like today... and at least her paws were clean today!

What a beauty Gracie is:
We've had a great weekend. We got thoroughly soaked through on our Saturday morning walk, but Gracie was quite chilled about it and still pleased to meet other dogs. She took a treat from R again, but wasn't so keen on anyone else (although she did say hello). Then this morning we met the same doggy crowd again, with some extras, and she was just amazing. She took treats from R and Otis' Mum ... and Otis' Dad! At one point there were 15 dogs of various sizes milling around and she just seemed to want to run about with them :-) She has lots of admirers, both doggy and human :-)

Lovely pic Claire......I see Grace is getting into the festive spirit early. Sounds like she is gaining confidence every day. Not surprised she has a fan club.

Well, what a busy week we've had! I was on holiday from work this week, so we've had plenty of time to be out walking and meeting lots of doggies and exploring. Grace is doing really well, and coped well with spending a couple of days away too. We stayed with Harriet (Labrador) and her family, and walked with Harriet's chums. This is Grace sneaking back after a streak round the woods:
And here are a few very tired dogs after the same walk:
She's obviously feeling more secure now we're home again as is starting to show us more of the real Gracie. She can be very insistent if she feels she's not getting enough attention, and will sneak an extra treat out of the cupboard if she gets the chance! She's starting to get to know the people we meet frequently on our walks and even wags a tail for a few select faces. She finally seems to understand that my bed is MY bed, but then, she could be lulling me into a false sense of security!
There's plenty of this:
And contented faces like this:
She's a lovely girlie who enjoys a squashy sofa, snoozes and snuggles

She is so pretty and is growing in confidence every day. You're doing so well with her and helping her to socialise with people and dogs
