It's been a bit of an epic week for Gracie this week. She and Jasper spotted a muntjack on Wednesday morning. Nothing out of the ordinary to begin with until I heard a scream and went to investigate. They'd downed it and killed it between the pair of them :-( They were very pleased with themselves, but Grace was bleeding from what I thought was a scratch on her right hind leg. Closer inspection at home revealed a nasty cut with the muscle exposed, so we were off to the vet. I don't know whether she did it herself as she rushed through the undergrowth or whether the muntjack managed to exact some revenge, but the result was 3 layers of stitches to put it all back together :-( She was really good about it all and made a good impression on the staff at the vets. She even took some treaties from the vet after her dressing change on Friday :-) The stitches come out next Friday, but until then it's short, calm(!) walks on her own. Then on our walk yesterday I had 3 different people ask for my number as they knew someone who wanted a lurcher and they all knew Grace was looking for a forever home! :-) I still feel quite overwhelmed by that now. She also got Get Well wishes from everyone we met - it's amazing how the news had spread and how well she's known :-) She really is a special girl :-)

Shame about the muntjac, but that's just lurcher nature I'm afraid. Sending Healing Vibes to lovely Grace, and hope that her forever home is not far off.

I can't believe it's been so long since I posted :-( I've given myself a stern talking to! Just can't believe how fast this year is speeding along! Grace really is a lovely, happy girl :-) She's always bouncy in the morning - even though I am NOT! - and I'm usually woken by a happy face on the edge of the bed and a drum beat as her tail rhythmically pummels the bedroom door! A guaranteed 10 minutes before any alarm goes off... I love the way she wags her tail and bounces lightly on her front paws when she's really excited :-) She also gets herself in a tangle sometimes as she seems to forget she's so big, with 4 gangly legs and a tail to manoeuvre as well! There are lots of squirrels about at the moment, so it's a bit like walking a kangaroo at times (!), but on the whole she's good on the lead and many of our regular walking buddies have noticed the difference in her. She really enjoys her walks and tells me all about how excited she is from the minute we get in the car! She can get really quite agitated if I have to stop at a junction or for traffic :-) With more holidaymakers about I'm back to walking her mostly on the lead, although the beach at Thornham is quickly becoming a favourite as it's mostly empty so she can have a good run about without careering off trees or tackling muntjac. This is last week: She and Jasper had been playing chase together rather than Grace just running about and Jasper trying desperately to keep up! Lovely to see :-) And this was Easter Sunday sunshine: She's very clear about what she likes and doesn't: there are 3 water bowls around the house, but Grace has her favourite. If it's empty she won't drink from another, but instead leads me to it and licks the dry bottom! This was her grumpy face when I was late taking them out for a walk while I was on holiday last week: Why have one bed when you could have 2? The fact neither is hers is a technicality! And there's always some sunshine to enjoy in Norfolk, even if it's too cold to lie outside :-) It would be really lovely to see her settled in her forever home :-)

Lovely update My dogs wake me with waggy tails thumping on whatever is nearby. Grace sounds like a dog who is enjoying life.

Yes, Grace is still looking for a forever sofa :-( She's such a lovely girl who loves her cuddles and the odd leg stretch :-) This should be a video of us at Thornham beach earlier this week: She always gets lots of admiring looks and comments. I'm sure there's someone out there for her :-)
