Glad that Twirl seems oblivious to her op, hope you can have cuddle and a nap with her today.

I'm feeling the love... thank you lovely SLR-ers. I will be going for a nap later. Unfortunately Chris'chest is not improving so will be off to the drs in a couple of hours. Twirl is being a delightful patient except that she wants to get up on the sofa. Thankfully she is small enough to lift up and down. She is also happy to go in her crate which make things easier. ♡♡♡

I had a wee nap...until the window cleaner bashed his brushes against the skylight window! Scared the bejebus outta me! Twirl managed to walk sensibly upstairs but needed carrying down (our stairs are rather steep) Chris is on antibiotics but was well enough to go with the carers to the petshop...sending pics of lizards on him with a sticker saying "please mum"! Like i don't have enough animals to look after!

Twirl in recovery being looked after by Stella. She is beginning to want to play so is spending more time crated, I don't know how Sally kept Phoebe still following her lady op!

Glad Chris was well enough to go out and hope the ABs sort him. Twirl does look snug with Stella.

Despite Twirl being an absolute dream patient she needed a quick visit to see the vet, a swelling appeared around her wound site. So at the moment she is just remaining on crate rest and being watched. She is going to the loo and eating ok so hopefully it is just bruising and fluid not hernia. So how to stop a crated sighthound from doing her yoga poses...(downward facing dog) Healing vibes please if possible

Lots and lots of healing vibes to little Twirly, hope the swelling will soon subside. You are doing a brilliant job, Claire, hope you get a rest in between your duties yourself!

Poor thing is wanting to play. I let her out, on a lead to pee, she keeps trying to play but gets to do her business then straight back in jail the crate. I think she is getting frustrated. Any ideas on calm entertainment for crate stays? On the plus side, it means her wound isn't bothering her, if it was a hernia I suspect she would be more subdued.

It's been nearly 3 weeks since we collected Twirl from the dog warden, she was a shivering, frightened little girl. The transformation has been astounding. Now nearly recovered from her lady op, she is showing what a truly beautiful girl she is. Playful, gentle, loving, eager to please. We have been doing alot of work on desensitising her to different places and situations. She will walk into the car now(we have a wheelchair ramp) not quite ready to jump in the boot but I am certain she will get there. She will walk on laminate and stone tiles, before she froze. Our first visit to the vet required carrying, now she walks in and is very calm. We are beginning to get abit of recall, i can see she is not waiting to bolt. I will measure her later as i am sure she has gotten slightly taller but she she is still quite dainty. We just love her to bits, I will be very upset when she goes, alas with 5 dogs of our own and the costs they incur means she must leave . I'm not in any rush though for her sake it would be better sooner rather than later.

You're doing such a great job getting this little girl set up ready to start a new life. I totally understand how hard it's going to be to say goodbye but there's someone out there who is going to give her a lovely new life. I hope it's soon!
