Effie came into SLR on Friday. She is being fostered with Christine in Berkshire. A lovely little girlie who through no fault of her own was being left all day in an outside enclosure. A kindly lady encouraged the owners to relinquish her into our care as they could not devote the time to her. Effie has just started vaccinations and has come into season so will not be ready for rehoming for a few weeks yet. I am sure Christine will put some photos up shortly. A video from Christine to say hello

Effie has been here a week now and she's a real sweetie. She's a very playful pup but not pushy and is happy to chill out in between play time with Alice. All my dogs accepted her straight away - even Daisy, who usually takes a couple of weeks - which I think says something about her easy-going happy character. She's a bright little girl and learns quickly. She's picked up our routines and settled in really quickly. There is no separation anxiety and she sleeps through the night without any fuss. She's not allowed in my bedroom but has accepted this and doesn't mind finding her own space to sleep. She's very affectionate and loves people and other dogs. On the whole she's clean in the house - we've had a few accidents but given that she is used to being outside she's done really well to learn the boundaries between indoors and outside. She's around 23-24 inches to the shoulder. She's due for her final vaccines on 19th August and hopefully her season will have finished by then. She's been a great hit at the vets where everyone who meets her falls in love with her happy gentle nature. Here are some photos of this pretty little girl. The first one I took just after she arrived and you can see there's a bit of anxiety in her eyes, but she soon settled and is enjoying being fussed and cuddled, and especially likes playing with Alice... oh, and she loves her toys! She looks a lot like my Daisy, only taller Here she is in the garden at the weekend, soaking up some rays ... she's a funny little thing!

Aha..photo number 2! I should have guessed. Efiie looks a peach, really pleased the owners saw the right thing to do, and that there was 'room at the SLR inn' for her to squeeze in. Well done, again, Christine. Looking forward to hearing more as she settles.

I've just learnt to be (a little bit) more patient.
