Being fostered with Philippa in Hampshire. - Bob's owner was known to another Rescue organisation but they were unable to take him in. Bob has lived indoors and his owner didn't want him to go into kennels.
He is in rescue through no fault of his own – his owner has got a job as a game keeper after several years of unemployment and is not allowed hounds at work. Bob was being left far too long each day and his owner made the difficult decision to rehome him.
He is a lovely deep grey/blue smooth coat about 26” tts. He is very well trained, can be recalled from the chase with a whistle or the word ‘enough’. He knows all the basic commands and has done some agility too. A smart boy – not sure what his mix is – maybe greyhound/whippet. Bob is people, child and dog friendly and house-trained. He hasn’t got a dominant personality and he would prefer a home with other dogs. He is about 6 years old, neutered and is in great health.

Wow what an absolute stunner, I have always wanted a blue Jolly well done Phillipa, sounds like he is going to be a bit of a doddle, plus I don't expect he will be with you for long Feel sorry for the poor owner having to give him up, but his loss will be someone else's gain
This boy is an absolute sweetheart (yes I know I say that about all my fosters) but Bob is so gentle. He really enjoys meeting other dogs (he especially likes girl greyhounds - watch out Bella) and always greets all the humans affectionately too, snuggling in for a proper fuss. EVERYONE that meets him, loves him. He is definitely coming to the Dog Show as people really need to meet him to fully appreciate him. So he will be wearing his yelllow ADOPT ME coat - which is a bit tight - and he will be a brilliant ambassador for lurchers/sighthounds.
Wow! Bob looks and sounds an absolute stunner Philippa. The fact that Zephyr is happy to have him around speak volumes for the vibe which Bob gives off.
Huge respect to you for offering yet another hound a safe and loving foster-home, you are a star
Bob had been here over a week. He behaved beautifully at the dog show - he is very sweet-natured and quite sensitive. Zephyr got told off yesterday and Bob looked quite upset so I had to reassure him.
He is making himself very popular round here as he bounces up to say hello to people and dogs but not in a boisterous way - just a happy one. He loves a lean and a good fuss and generally likes to be with you in the home. He seems to be pretty much perfect - no hang ups, reliable and trained.
So what you have all been waiting for :
And a short video from this morning in the secure field
It was lovely to meet Bob at the dog show on sunday. He is a most handsome and well adjusted chap. He spent some time in the dog-pen with my pack, meeting everyone with a waggy tail and a friendly face. Nothing seemed to faze him at all and he received lots of attention from many admirers.
Bob is beginning to really relax. He knows the rough schedule now. He loves heading out for a walk - you can see how much he enjoys meeting dogs and people out and about. Luckily we have a secure field that allows him a short period off lead for a quick zoom around - although, he gets told off by Zephyr sometimes when they have a run together. i think Zephyr has to put in his place as he is so fast.
He especially likes it when he gets something nice on top of his kibble - today there was a bit of pulled pork and roasting juices. Like most lurchers, he is very good at sleeping. He is snuggled next to me on the sofa at the moment.
At night, he sleeps in the sitting room with Zephyr - but I think he would prefer to come upstairs with me. He sleeps through with out a sound though and always greets me in the morning with a wag and a snuggle.
'I am a very good boy and my foster Mum has neglected my thread for a week now. How will I get a new home at this rate? I have had to take things into my own paws so I have been working very hard on this task. First I have been behaving very well. If I see someone when we are out on our walk, I do my special bouncy happy run over to them. The people think I am coming to them but then I veer off and say hello to their pooch (I think that this is the right strategy but some may disagree) then after a quick sniff I head over to begin my charm offensive - I wriggle and lean and show them what a sweet boy I am. I always get a big fuss - and sometimes a treat too. Here are some videos of me and my new friends. Woof, woof'
'In thsi first one, I look a bit greedy, but I have a lot of competition'
IN this one, SLR Millie runs over to her mum who I am asking for treats - this is misleading, I am actually firting with greyhound Gracie. I do love the greyhound girlies.
Now I have a bit of play - I watch the others run as I don't want to show them up with my speed and grace
Here I am playing with Rocky (GSD) and SLR Poppy - Rocky is a bit full on so his Mum tries to stop him, but I am perfectly behaved.
