As you can see from the photos we had a fab walk with lovely Molly, Keith and hounds on Sunday afternoon, and Keith has kindly loaned us some training leads so that Bailey can have a bit more freedom. Yesterday morning we went along to a park with a fenced off area that Keith had told us about, and were able to let Bailey off for the first time. It was a great success and he was so happy to be free. Once he had calmed down a little we did some recall and he responded very well. He clearly had never played with a tennis ball and just ignored it, but when we got home and bounced it past him down the path a couple of times his legs began bouncing along after it and he surprised himself by jumping into the air and catching it in his mouth! We went back to the park again in the evening and there were several dogs around that he was desperate to play with, but they weren't very interested in spending time with a big bouncy puppy. Today we had a trip to the local hospital for physio on Roy's shoulder, and then went for a walk in a nearby park. Again he was desperate to make friends with other dogs, bouncing around and lots of play bows, Saffy ignored him and went off doing her own thing and came back covered in mud. We now have serious bitey-face games with lots of blood-curdling snarling and throaty arguments, but they cease as soon as they're told and settle down to chewing a soft toy or going outside for a sniff. Bailey is going for his big-boy op tomorrow so things should be a little quieter for a couple of days.

Thinking of you today Bailey.
Hope the op goes smoothly and you heal quickly.
No bouncing around until Uncle Graham says so!
'Don't worry' hugs to Sheila and Roy!

Bless him. He will wonder why his new found freedom has been taken away from him again. He'll be bouncing by the weekend! Enjoy the peace.

Bailey is home again safe and sound. A little woozy and spaced out but OK, we're just going to sit nicely and quietly on the sofa this afternoon.

we're just going to sit nicely and quietly on the sofa this afternoon. Good luck with that! You may get away with it today, but I bet he'll be full of beans again tomorrow.

He wandered around a bit this afternoon and laid down at the top of the stairs a couple of times, looking 'lights on nobody home'. Had 3 little naps and then at 5pm came out of his trance and started looking for food. Ate all his rice and chicken and kicked the bowl around a bit in the hope that I would take the hint and give him more. Finally I gave in and put some chicken paste into a kong for him to lick and nibble at, he seemed content with that and has now settled down for the night.

How's Bailey getting on?
More to the point, how are you surviving keeping him calm?!

There's been lots of bitey-face play but on the whole not too bad, it's amazing, you would never think he'd had an op! Graham is a brilliant vet! We go back for a check-up tomorrow.
