My little Maisie has been busy. Over to a friends Friday afternoon to meet a couple of greyhounds - which she took completely in her stride. Then on Saturday, we went to a little party at Trumpet and Crusty's place, with a bonfire and a Chinese takeaway. Both the boys were desperate to get her to play but I think it is still a bit too soon. She settled down in front of the bonfire, enjoying the warmth - she also decided that she likes Chinese food.
So a quick week 1 summary
She is fine off lead - in fact it is difficult to get her to go more than 2ft away to see what her recall is like. She has finally started eating her food - but at the moment it has to have gravy on it. She likes to be close to you - will bond very closely with her new owner She is fully house trained She is fine with all dogs she has met but isn't interested in playing (yet) She is perfect on lead - she just toddles along at your side Not very demonstrative - until you leave her for a bit then she runs around, wagging excitedly, welcoming you back We get the odd bark at night - I think she would like a home that lets her sleep in the same room but she accepts that that doesn't happen here Everyone loves her - she has a very gentle demeanour that makes people feel a bit sorry for her, especially when they know her back story

I'm looking forward to meeting her and I'm betting by that time her character will have come out even more. Great job, as always, Philippa and so nice to get your detailed updates

What a lovely girl who has so obviously been loved in the past, it must be so reassuring for her to be with you now so that she can start to relax again, which is so what she deserves. I'm sure her forever home is not too far off xx

Feeling guilty that there are so few pics but she sticks so close its difficult to get far enough away to take one. However that is changing, each day she does a bit more, goes a bit further away (15 - 20 ft) on walks for a sniff. She has been eating her food all up for the last two days. She has been off the prozac completely for almost a week with no obvious side effects. Its all coming back together mentally for her. Of course, she is so dainty and gentle everyone falls in love with her and she accepts their fusses with grace and affection.
Meeting Christine tomorrow for a walk - may get a pic or two then.

Maisie is truly beautiful. Someone is going to be very lucky when they give her her forever sofa.

Here's a short video to show how Maisie just wants to trot behind her human... recall is 100% because she never goes far! It's really nice to see how she is gradually getting more confident under Philippa's care and she occasionally wanders a little bit away. In this clip she looks fairly normal size until you see Comet come into shot... he's small but he looks big next to this tiny, dainty little girl. See how her steps quicken up when Comet comes near Philippa... so sweet!

what a scrumtious girl. How is she coping if men are around Philippa?

Well done Zephyr. You are a good boy for welcoming all these girlies. Have to say Philippa, I am a little worried that she may find it hard to settle in another new home. But I suppose we won't know until we try it.

But I suppose we won't know until we try it. A small risk to subject her to another upheaval so soon, but I think (hope) she is resilient enough to cope.

If she was a boy I'd have joined the waiting list for her as she seems super and our dogs are very gentle and not boisterous.

Little, dainty Maisie has gone to her forever home in Poole. She is going to have a slightly larger identikit sister, called Secret. We met at the Happy Cheese and had a lovely walk where Secret, Zephyr and Maisie all behaved well. Over the weeks she has been here, she has come out of her shell and I am hopeful that it won't be long before she is completely relaxed in her new home. She is certainly going to be loved - and spoilt rotten. I believe Loz and Keith may see her out and about and we hope she will make some of the Hampshire/Dorset walks. I will wrestle with photobucket later to load pics of her. Have a lovely, lovely life Maisie (and be a good girl )
