Thanks for the update Philippa . Sounds like a pretty good first night - hope you got some good sleep in amongst the barking-spells.
Hope your trip to meet all Zephyr's friends goes well

Sounds like a good start. She looks a bit like Ellie . Love those ears! She is - but is much tinier. She is the size of a small whippet.

We have had a good day, I think.
She hasn't shown any obvious signs of stress. Displayed excitement when I got them up, got the leads for a walk and when I returned from a short meeting. She is happy to eat treats and my roast pork, but less enthusiastic about proper dog food. She is still on her medication, vet booked for Wed so that we can start reducing it. At the moment, she is mainly affectionate when excited, she doesn't want to come and sit next to me. She seems very relaxed around Zephyr and he has been brilliant with her - super calm and patient - letting her get on with what she wants with no interference. On her walks she has been very well behaved but shy.
I think she is still finding her feet but I am reasonably happy that she isn't distressed or particularly anxious. Fingers crossed that she settles tonight and no barking.

Sounds like a promising first day Everything here crossed that Maisie will settle now that she is in a non-trauma-laden environment. Way to go Philippa and Zephyr!

Pretty good for a first day. Hopefully she has left her ghosts behind and Zephyr will give her calm confidence.

sounds like it's going well. She needs to find her way in the new situation and it looks like your patience is allowing her to do that and grow more confident at her own pace.

Maisie is getting more relaxed each day. She only weighs 11.4kg - so dainty!! She went to vet this morning and we are reducing her anti-anxiety medicine down over the next week (helped by the fact that I was inadvertently giving her a reduced dose anyway). I am fairly confident that she no longer needs it now that she is away from the 'scene of the crime'. Everyone of course is very taken with her - she is very gentle - and despite being quite reserved was putty in 9 year old Jude's hands this afternoon. Jude is SLR Hattie and SLR Millie's human brother. She is happy around other dogs but isn't showing any signs of wanting to play yet.
We get the odd bark over night - I think she just want reassurance that I am around. She is still a bit of a fussy eater - rarely finishing her plate - but I think it is due to lack of interest rather than stress.
She is a sweet girl who will be great in a calmish home. I think she would also be best with another (preferably happy go lucky or confident) dog around.

Lovely updates, not sure if the family are following this thread but I'm sure they will be heartened to hear that their beautiful girl has settled in and is calmer. They made a heartbreaking, but it seems, correct decision.

This little one is getting more relaxed each day. She had the full on common experience this morning - SLR Hattie and her gang, SLR Sophie and sister Rosie, GSD x lurcher Harriet, greyhound Gracie - and then Benji (bedlington) and Toby (whippet) turned up. She was fine - she didn't run around with a big grin like Ariel, kept to herself but didn't show any anxiety and greeted dogs nicely when they approached her. Of course, Toby and Benji's mum thought she was absolutely gorgeous. In fact everyone is immediately taken with her, she is very dainty and gentle. She sticks very close to me now, so I think she will bond very closely with her new owner. She still needs a bit more confidence but I am seeing progress every day. I managed to get a couple of pics today (as finally, after 3 months, I let Zephyr off lead today - all went well, no limping ) and will put them up tomorrow.

Just great to hear that Maisie is progressing so well Philippa Looking forward to seeing the photos of all those lovely common dogs! Also BRILLIANT NEWS that Zephyr's first off lead went limpless Do hope the improvement holds and that Zephyr can get back to having off lead freedom with no further toe problems.
