Sadly, Maisie needs to come into foster. She has been so loved all her life but as you can read in the email below circumstances a year ago have made her situation intolerable. Her owner is beside herself and thinks that the only way to make Maisie happy is to rehome her. She is currently on the Kent Surrey borders. ...................... A year ago my mum was burgled and her dog, Maisie, disturbed the burglars and we believe was slightly hurt when they tried to shut the door on her. It happened in the middle of the night. She has since been having what can only be described as a nervous breakdown at home - she is very settled outside and in different environments. Our vet has suggested that we try having her live in a completely different environment for a few weeks to see if a completely new environment takes away her triggers and allows her to live a 'normal' life again. She is currently on medication to help her at home but it is not working so this is a last resort to see if rehoming her will help. The last option we don't really want to do but she currently has no quality of life. Do you have foster families who may be able to help? She is a bedlington/lurcher/whippet cross and will be 8 this year. She is an extremely friendly dog and loves people of all ages. She's never been a fan of being left for long periods alone but is ok with other dogs for a few hours - she stays with my dog when we are out. To say we are all heartbroken that we even have to consider this is an understatement and all because some idiot thought he could help himself to what wasn't his! ........................................ Maisie is neutered, vaccinated and kennel cough vaccinated. She is in good health, apart from having to be on anxiety medication. She is not cat or squirrel friendly. We have one photo for now and more to follow. She is saluki bedlington x to a whippet.

I am happy to be considered if you think she'd cope here but I am not hugely experienced with troubled dogs.

That is so very, very sad I do hope that a change of environment will allow Maisie to begin to enjoy life again. PS Give me 5 minutes in a room with the low-life who wrecked the life of both Maisie and her family

My heart goes out to her and her owners who must be heart broken as it's tearing them apart. I do hope someone with experience can help her to regain her confidence and then get back to the family.
I'd love to have her as she's a beautiful rough coat and the right age we'd been looking for but our frightened dog would probably not want a fifth hound here!
It might be useful to use non conventional treatments as well to the vets treatment. We've found Bach Flower remedies from Lori Rose and Creature Comforts very useful for Finn as they're prepared for their specific problems. Many people have also tried homeopathy with great success.
Finn didn't race so sat kennel bound for four years and he was very scared of the outside world and even today, after two years, he still doesn't like leaving the place he knows. We're away in Kent at a dog friendly cottage for a week and I must say that with gentle remedies he is calmer {but that's not saying much} than when we came here last year.
I pray something works for this gorgeous girl so she can go back to her family. Some might laugh but I don't care, as an Animal Healer has visited Finn and he has responded very well. Poor Brodie was dreadfully traumatised when Smokey was attacked if front of both of us and later died but Oonagh, a local healer has helped him so much. This might also help this beautiful dog and it's worth a try.

Hopefully, we have this sorted. Philippa has offered, and bearing in mind that it was a male that hurt her it would be best for her to be fostered with Philippa. And Zephyr is a good influence.
