Albert is so lovely... once met never forgotten. If anyone is looking at this thread and wondering about Albert I can confirm that, having met him at the recent Basingstoke Dog Show, he is absolutely gorgeous. If I was looking for another dog he would be my first choice. He's not fazed by crowds, loves people and other dogs and has that lovely combination of being placid when you need him to be but also very fun-loving and playful.

Albert having fun with Rowlf ... Thanks again Rod for doing that. Most of my photos of Albert are of him sub-sonic, so some at 80% speed somewhat balances to flavour of what is Albert. And that brings us to something else that needs keeping in balance. Fostering. It means saying goodbye. Hopefully! Visiting Paxti's new home today and chatting over tea, brought something to the fore that crops up quite a lot, but I'd previously not grasped it's significance. Most folks think/assume we're keeping Albert. Many a look of surprise and even shock crosses the faces of those that discover we're fostering and yes, we'd like him to go. For his benefit and the benefit of all the others waiting for their chance to be fostered. So I'd like to make it clear, Albert's looking for a permanent home. We all love the guy, Ringo & Joey included, but his destiny lies elsewhere. Maybe the hole he's 'dug' in the garden can go with him... Simply can't get upset by it. Such a joy to see a dog living it's puppyhood, all be it when he's fully grown. When he realises you're looking at him and not saying NO, he skips around and around like he's just had his best ever birthday prezzi. Which, it probably is.

It takes family life and love to bring a dog to it's full potential something that kennel life can never do. Lurchers are field dogs and live to run free and fast, something no Kennel can let them do only walk them on a lead twice a day. In kennels they get stressed out and begin to shut down and it can take a long time to recover. So many thanks to all foster people for all the selfless work they do for these lovely hounds, you are wonderful.

Brilliantly put Rod. I really admire foster carers and all the work they put in. I couldn't do it because I couldn't let go - they would all be FFs!!

I second what Simon has said. We have a great collection right now of fostered hounds needing homes and having met Albert I can't stress enough what a great dog he is. This lovely boy deserves to find his forever home and anyone who gets him will be the luckiest person. We know you're out there... please stop and give this lovely boy a second chance!

And I'll second that. If you are looking at this thread, thinking of taking a lurcher into your life, please consider if this lovely boy could be for you. He's ready to go and will transform someone's life xx

Hi All, have I missed something ? I thought Al had a reserved sticker on his bot! I really like the kind of hound Al seems to be, although I have always fought shy of hounds with Saluki blood rushing through them. We are sadly out of your "approved" area otherwise I would have been asking to be home checked. After all I am looking for a bitch, 2/3 years old, broken coated, Deer / Grey or Collie / Grey mix. So young Al fits that remit exactly!!!

We have members in Cornwall so don't rule out being home checked. Albert is a smashing dog.
