The referral vets, at Welwyn have been kind to us. They want to see him every week for the next three weeks, but so far the invoice is £360. They will re-x-ray in 3 weeks time to make sure the bones are knitting at the right points. We couldn't have pinned and plated as it was too near the growth plates to get screws in, and we were definitely not going to amputate if there is a chance to save the leg.

Missed this for a few days!! Oh poor Freddy, Roy and Fiona. Let's hope it all starts to improve for you all and Freddy will soon be able to be a puppy!
Depending on where fosters are situated, Daniel Doherty, our vet in Uxbridge, is a really great surgeon and often performs operations that other vets would send you to a specialist vet or hospital. He completely removed a cancerous growth on our Mia that was situated extremely close to her jugular. He never does anything invasive unless it's absolutely necessary and his fees are very fair.

Freddy is doing really well. He has had his splint on for 3 days now is you wouldn't know anything was wrong. His is being very good still with his cage rest, when he comes out he gets all the toys out of the box and lays and chews a bone or plays with a toy. He still goes straight to his food bowl when let out but doesn't woof it down so badly.
As soon as his leg is mended he will have a bath, he's not really smelly but he has dry skin and would benefit from a good scrub!! Will get some photos tomorrow of him out the cage. ( he is like a fox without the bushy tail)

poor Freddy... he must be so frustrated and yet he still smiles! That splint looks pretty secure and should help his leg heal properly. It sounds like you've got a good vet there so he's in good hands. Love seeing the photos of this handsome little fox!
