Love his stripey sock, bless him. Can't wait for him to have his cast off and be able to do zoomies.

It's good that he can handle being in the crate as being incapacitated with that huge plaster must be difficult to keep him rested if you couldn't use the crate. I hope it's not too long before it can come off. What's the timescale likely to be?

The vets said at first 6 weeks. Hopefully as we are keeping him rested it will help his recovery quicker. ?? Today we had family visit with their lab. I felt so sorry as he just wanted to play but couldnt. I am sure that he go mental when his paster comes off.
I think that he would love other dogs to play with and run around with. Today he hasn't been quite so desperate to gulp his food down so whether he starting to realise that he will get regular meals ??

Got up this morning and when I came downstairs Freddy has managed to get his plaster off. He has been so good with his cage rest I think he must have thought " if I don't have my leg in plaster then I won't be in here". I was due to work today so I've swapped my day off to take him to the vets. Trust him to do it on a bank holiday !!!!

Oh no, how on earth did he manage that? Did he slide it off? Sounds like he needs braces fitted to the next one. Sending loads of Behave-Yourself-Freddie Vibes.

We took freddy to the vets this morning. They couldn't get on the system to see the X-rays he had done before , so they put on a more bandaged dressing rather than another plaster and told us he is not allowed to even walk on it. ........ How to do this with a puppy is nearly impossible. We are going back to our vets tomorrow. He is even more restricted to his cage now. Out of his cage, eat his dinner, in the garden for wees and poo then back in his cage. Oh well at least he is getting lovely kongs to help keep him occupied.

Keeping him from walking sounds impossible. Hopefully they will recast his leg tomorrow.

Poor you guys. That is really difficult for you and poor Freddy must be so frustrated. I hope you can get him re-plastered so at least he'll be able to walk on it.

Sadly little Freddy has a worse break than first thought. His current Vets have re-xrayed him today and they don't feel able to deal with it. We are being referred to an ortho. vet. Where the break is is just above the growth plates, and both the ulna and radius are broken through. Our usual referral Vets are diverting their emergencies to a Vet in Welwyn. On ringing round this afternoon I have been quoted anywhere between £3,500 - £5,500 to either plate and pin or fixate the bones. I must say that Walton Lodge at Stevenage have been really helpful in sharing info and passing on x-rays for referral and Ray, who is fostering little Freddy did a lot of ringing round too and just after I had booked £3,500 with The Royal Vet College he rang to say he had spoken to the Welwyn Vets and they are able to help us for £2-£2,500. That is a saving of more than £1,000. We had to cancel the Royal Vet College and have now asked Walton Lodge to refer us to Welwyn. Freddy has an appointment at 9.15 a.m.
Fingers crossed for Freddy that they can do the plate and pin. xx
