I have just got home from work, I let Freddy out for his wee and he went straight to the food bowls ( all are empty and food hidden safely out the way) he had his dinner before 8 but still must be hungry but no food allowed. He went out to the loo and I had to put him back almost straight away, he looks so fed up with his big bandage on his leg. But he has been so good even though he must have been in pain, he really never showed it.
He really is a lovely pup and I have everything crossed that his op will go smoothly tomorrow.

Poor little Freddy.
Loads of vibes on the way so that leg gets fixed up properly.
Will be thinking of him, and you, in the morning.

Poor Freddy and poor you. This is really upsetting news, but it's good to hear the vet is prepared to reduce the cost of the op. Keeping everything crossed here that the op will go well, and I'll be thinking those "be successful vibes" during the day

The Vets at Welwyn have rung to say that looking at the new x-rays they feel there is not enough room to plate, and also he has a bit more growing to do so the plate would have to be removed again. Pinning is not going to be enough. They feel that the bones are pretty well alligned and starting to knit so they are going to splint him and plaster him to keep the leg as steady as they can for it to continue healing. It may twist as he grows (which our Honey's has) but this shouldn't affect him, and if he is as fast as Honey, she can crack up to 25 miles an hour, even with a slightly twisted leg. Better to keep the leg. Hopefully we will be seeing a bill of less than £1,000.

That sounds like good news, I think! I hope they cast him in concrete so he doesn't chew this one off!

Tesco hot chilli sauce always works. They just have to paint the cast with it. And a lampshade collar!

Like Heather, not sure it's entirely good news, but anything that helps him mend and get out of the plaster as soon as he can is going to be good

Good news that he will be hopefully keeping his leg. Now be a good boy Freddie and leave your plaster alone.
