Well, our first night went very smoothly. I put Lenny in a crate downstairs next to a bed that Alice sleeps in so he could see her. He whimpered for about 10 minutes then all was quiet (unlike Bambi who cried and howled for an hour and a half!). He didn't stir until I went to his crate at 05:30, although there was a loud screech in the night when he must have hurt his wound, but he settled straight away. He does have the most ridiculous squeaky-howly bark which makes me laugh... fortunately he's quite quiet so it doesn't happen very often. Good news is he doesn't have to wear his buster collar as he can't reach the wound. The dressing has already slipped off a bit but he's going back to the vet today anyway to have it re-dressed. It took me a while to get to see him at the vet yesterday as all the nurses were saying their goodbyes - they've fallen in love with him and didn't want him to go. One of them came out all tearful with a nylabone and a kong with meat inside and asked if I could take them as they were his favourites. It was very touching. He's a typical little pup who wants to play and chew everything, but he's not as feisty as Bambi and is very respectful of the other dogs. Alice wants to play with him and he wants to join in too, but she's a bit rough and tends to knock him about a bit. He soon bounces back but I have to stop anything but nose touching and tail wagging as I don't want his stitches to be damaged nor to have his wound hurt. I'm amazed at how easy he is finding it to move about. It's easier for them to move fast than slow so he's hopping around a lot. He was a bit anxious last night, as you can see from the first photo, but it wasn't long before he settled, fell asleep and started roaching. This little man has a lovely happy nature and is going to be an absolute joy to someone. Too soon to tell if he needs to be with other dogs and I've yet to try him with children, but all the signs so far are that he loves everyone and likes being with my other dogs. I can't help getting all tearful when I look at him and his bare shoulder, but I have to snap out of this as all the dogs need me to have strong positive energy, and this happy, cheeky little pup clearly isn't bothered by it. Here's some photos... videos to follow Looking a bit bewildered last night - he doesn't seem to have had experience with televisions as he was fascinated by it. Lenny's first roach!!! ... and fast asleep. There's no denying that 3 legs or 4, he is one very pretty flookie!

Christine - you are such a good foster mum. Little Lenny is lucky to be with you and your gang. Alice is becoming a really good foster sister for these pups too. Lovely update.

I think he should be named Legolas after the Elf from Lord of The Rings. He's very Elvish in looks & of course because of his tripod status. He is an absolutely gorgeous boy & I wish him a speedy recovery. Squishy hugs xx

Here's a photo of little Lenny in the garden so you can see how little he is. He has long legs so I think he'll grow upwards quite a bit. I put the softer collar on him but have to keep taking it off as it's rubbing on the dressing and making it fall off. He can't really reach the dressing without the collar but directly it starts falling off there's a little flap he can pull and I don't want that wound exposed any longer than necessary. The vet said to try and keep it on for another couple of days. He's back to the vet next Thursday to have the staples removed; all the stitches will dissolve.
