This is such a sad story and a real worry for you. As others have said do put on some new pictures of Chance, side on, his soft face and how tall etc. Do you or family use facebook as that seems to have helped other dogs. HeatherP

Be lovely if more photos of Chance could be added, it helps get him attention, I put him on my Twitter account last night and he got one retweet, hope he finds a home soon x Aw bless you - thanks so much. Well, poor Chance is still in situ at my Father's house - not much time left now. We've got some good weight off him now, so will be taking some new pics in the next couple of days. He's become slightly unsettled due to strange Estate Agents floating around and taking photos. Poor thing, he's so confused, let alone missing his master I estimate I have maybe two more months at most, and I dearly love for him to go straight to a loving home. He's had our friend "dog sitting" full time, so he's been well and truly spoilt - so rescue kennels I truly hope, won't be the last option available. Watch this space for some new pics - and thanks so much for the Twitter dobbsdogs. xxxxxxxxxx

it would be great to see photos. They make a difference if people can see the dogs in different situations. Let's hope that when his photos are here someone will come forward

Although I've put some recent pics on previous posts - I'm going to get a few more up to date ones put on here for everyone to see. Doing what he does best today, sprawled out in the sun on his little trampoline. Was just lovely seeing him so chilled. If only he got on with other dogs, I could've had him myself - or if not, he'd definitely have found a home by now. It just seems that every potential fosterer or new home already have one. That's been quite challenging. Anyway, I shall pop a new post on here tomorrow with a recap, and shall keep everything crossed. xxxxxxxxx

Would be lovely if someone retired wanting a campanion saw chances thread. We have an elderly man near us who got his first dog at 75 years old a retired greyhound when he lost his wife. He is out walking him everyday and loves him so much. I hope someone sees his thread soon doggyhug3_zps55c50d31X

Thanks Lovemushy - well that's exactly what my Father did to be honest. Although he was a Basenji show judge, and breeder for many years with my mother, when he lost her to breast cancer, he ended up with 8 basenjis to look after at the age of 64. They all died, and then he couldn't be without one, so got a rescue Basenji. He died, and then he wanted a "challenge" (as an ex-RAF Police Dog Handler). So he got Chance. For a dog that had obviously been mistreated from a man at some point we gathered, with gentle nurturing, Chance became Dad's great companion, and the trust was gained. They slept a lot too! lol. I think Chance is particular fond of women though, very odd. He's wary of strange men, just backs off. But he's been through a lot these last few months, and I'm guessing, this can all be turned around with a loving home. He is a cuddler, and takes over the whole sofa, which I believe is normal for Lurchers. So by tomorrow I will get some new pics on here. Thanks again x

Hi everyone! I've had many requests to post some new up to date pics of "Chance", in the hope that we will be able to find him his forever home. It has now been 3 months since my Father's death, and Chance still misses him terribly. We don't seem to be having any luck with rehoming or fostering, mainly due to Chance not getting on with other dogs. That's not to say that hopefully one day, and with the possibility of being homed with somebody who is experienced with Lurchers, this may be turned around one day with lots of time and patience. But currently, Chance has to be homed as the ONLY dog. Time is getting short now as my Father's property is currently on the market, and although Chance is still in my Father's home, we can only stretch this out until the point of sale. It's not fair on Chance, or indeed, his dog sitter who has fallen in love with him. Unfortunately, they are not allowed pets in their property, and I have another dog. It will be very sad for us as a family to part from him, so I am appealing to anyone out there who feels that they can take Chance under their wing, and continue to give him the love and affection that he so deserves. We have shed a few pounds off of Chance since his last pics - he will be vaccinated, prior to rehoming being as he is being homed from his home. Thank you so much everyone. x [ALL ENQUIRIES: Jenny Symmons]

I really feel for you. I would love to take Chance as a long term foster but me having 5 dogs wouldn't be great for him. He looks well and definately leaner. Everything crossed for Chance to get his chance xxx

Aw thank you so much. What's even lovelier, is that we managed to teach him to sit (at last!), lie down and paw! So there's progress. Thanks for your kind post. x

Debbie has decided to go with someone who applied for Chance, who lives nearby so that they can visit him. We all wish them well and hope that it all works out for him.
