Looks like he's settling in ok. Just needs to get a bit of meat on them bones. We're trying Romi :-). He eats everything and everybodies- given half a chance. He weighs 19.4kg but it's all thigh muscle not rib covering! He is a lovely boy though, his forever home will gain a loveable, cuddly thief lol

Bless him. I am having trouble keeping Kodi's ribs covered at the mo too. He eats a bigger dinner than Nero but still looks boney. I have started giving him some of the hi-energy puppy food that I used to put the weight back on Nero after his bad reaction to Prednisalone. I'm sure it won't be long before Sid is a picture of health, as well as happiness.

Of course Sid is a proper lurcher, foster dad. If he is so fond of food, it can actually be quite helpful trying to get his attention when practising 'recall' with him, Caroline, provided you have pocket fulls of treats for him ........ In my experience, even with your excellent home cooking, it takes a very long time for those skinny 'slookie'-type lurchers to put ANY weight on while they are teenagers, like Sid. (I vividly remember little Elmer! : But I promise your persistence will eventually pay off when Sid is growing into a young adult hound. You are giving him the best start in life and, provided your feeding can be continued, Sid will grow into a beautiful hound being in top condition.

I'm back home now after a quick family visit to Essex and Sid is much more relaxed now his 'pack' is reunited. Apart from his obsession with the kitchen worktops and our chewable possessions he's a joy to have around!
I think he needs a sighthound savvy home who are able to deal with his shy sensitive nature and thieving ways. Any children would need to be older so that he'd be less likely to chew their toys :-). Applications are now open for Sid, who will be having his second vaccinations next week and this is a one off chance to expand the SLR adopting mileage criteria to Cornwall, though of course he can be returned to the Home Counties if the right home comes up.
He could easily stay here, he's fitted in really well, but we're really not looking for a 6th dog, not even one as cute as Sid!!

Sid is back at the vets tomorrow for his second vaccination. He was as good as gold last time, so I'm hoping for more of the same. Sorry for the lack of outdoor photos, but the weather has been so very windy here at the end of the country that it's not possible to walk 3 or 6 dogs, stand up straight and take photos - I know, I'm a wimp lol. But here is a grainy photo of Sid showing his Saluki crossed legs pose. He's doing really well with his potty training, especially given how awful the weather has been for most of the last week

Lovely updates Caroline. BTW was it your van that I saw parked at Lamberts Castle in Dorset during the holiday break. I noticed that the logo was from Cornwall. If it was, what a shame as I was walking the Hounds there at the same time. We go there 3 or 4 times a week.

Sid continues to thrive! He's learnt the Lurcher art of wearing a fleecy jumper, despite his initial resistance. As the weather has got colder, he welcomed the chance to wear some tiger stripes ;-). He's nearly spot on with his toilet training and he's also really good at creeping onto our bed in the night and stealing all the duvet lol. This is not something we encourage, but as I like to sleep with the bedroom door open it does occasionally happen. He's really settled in now and his cheeky personality is coming out more and more. He loves a cuddle and does seek out a cuddle opportunity but he will not let you walk towards him, or come through a door or gap if you are standing there. Goodness knows what happened to him before, but hopefully time and confidence will help with this.
I think Sid would best suit a sighthound experienced home with older dog friendly children who are prepared to give this gorgeous boy the opportunity to become more confident and also manage his counter surfing addiction

Ah Caroline this rings a bell. Tilly has this issue with being approached and although she will, let me stroke her when we're both sitting down, hasn't braved proper cuddles just yet. It does make you wonder what they might have had happen in the past doesn't it? Like you, I believe time will help them forget and learn that there is kindness there for them. Anyway, wtg Sid you're doing great xx
