Just a quick update on Miss Molly.
positives
Molly has settled in nicely. We've not had one accident indoors (this was stated as a possible problem). I have left her for an hour so far with no problems at all. She will follow basic instructions and learns fast....although the terrier in her can override her common sense!
She enjoys her food but isn't food aggressive. Molly isn't keen on the car but will get in and sit still, not whinning but shaking a little. This has improved. She doesn't launch herself out, but will wait for me to say it's ok to get out.
Molly is ok with children, i would say she could live with older calm children. She is also fine to live with other dogs. Although I would say 'calm dogs', just because she is quite excitable.
Areas for improvement
Molly walks better on her training lead, it gives her room to explore and run around a little. She needs help to learn doggy greeting skills. She gets very excited and will launch herself at another dog. We have muzzled her which seems to calm her down and gives us confidence that her enthusiastic greeting doesn't become an aggressive encounter. She has been fine on the meet and greats although some dogs (small fluffy ones) seem to evoke a barking chorus from her. She can be distracted out of this. Walking on a short lead is not great to start with, but improves once she has expended some ènergy, I think this is purely a training issue which will be cured in time. She does get a little jealous if anyone else gets attention, this is also getting better. She has to share me with 5 other dogs so she has little choice but to get used to it!!
Negatives
Molly's only negative at present is her pray drive, which makes her unable to live with cats., birds, rabbits, ....it would also be a risk if anyone was wanting to let her go off lead as she will chase anything! EVEN RADIO CONTROLLED AEROPLANES!! It is still early days so never say never.
Molly really is a lovely dog. She is keen to learn and is thriving in a calm environment. She has character which just endears her to everyone who meets her. She is a special little lady who is going to bring joy to whoever gives her a home.
