Well I've just put up a medium sized crate this afternoon ready for our visitor and Sadie has just wandered into it and flopped down! Totally unprompted so she seems to approve. As far as I know she's never been in one before. I hope they don't fight over it. Could be interesting when she wants to come out because it's a bit snug for her LOL

He he, Kodi always snaffles crates too. Maybe you'd better put up two!

I am still chewing the name over. I can't help thinking of mustard hats when I hear the name Pearl. I am favouring Amber at the moment and it fits my 2 syllable trend. We will have to have a polar bear gatherering again Wendy and Terry! Yes, we shall have to introduce them and see how they get on. When is Pearl/Amber arriving? Love the picture of Sadie in the crate

Hi Wendy, I think I'm back on to Pearl now- I just need to see past that mustard hat. Looks Like Pearl will be arriving on Tuesday. Sadie tried out the crate again earlier but has retreated to the settee for some proper sleep.

Well done Carol & Sadie I'm sure Pearl/Amber will be very comfy in the crate (eventually ) My lot always had to try out the crate before the foster could possibly be allowed in it

Well Pearl has arrived !! Yes I've decided on Pearl other wise I will get tired of justifying why I have called a white dog Amber so Pearl it is. She has followed Sadie almost everywhere and has tried her bed out and shared her favourite chair. Sadie seems very chilled about it so hope Pearl will settle quickly. I am giving her space this afternoon just to get used to us. Pearl is listening to eveything I am saying. Click on image to view

What a little beauty! And well done to Sadie too for accepting her so quickly. Huge thanks to you both for springing this little one out of kennels today.

She still has that scared look. I hope we see her come out of herself in the next few weeks. Looks like Carol and Sadie are a great foster home for her - Sadie has accepted her so nicely.

Sadie seems to have taken Pearl under her wing and is really mothering her. What lovely photos of them both! I am sure Pearl will flourish under your and Sadie's care

Hi Can anyone recommend a harness for lovely Pearl. I would like some sort of "secure body armour" type rather than straps. She is 25" approx around the chest. Just been to 2 local pet shops and nothing suitable so wondered what you would recommend?
I've just tried taking her in the garden with a lead on her collar and a lead on her anti pull harness which is all I could find this morning and I swear she very nearly slithered and writhed out of both so I need something subtantial before I venture out with her again I think.

Don't know whether you are on face book, but there is a smashing lady on there who has just started making escape proof padded harnesses, her sight is Slouching Hound. Attached is a link to her website but the harnesses only appear to be on her fb page. www.slouchinghound.co.uk/default.html

Huge thanks carol. Pearl was feral for five weeks and we all know that it doesn't take them long to lose trust. Than dog Sadie is being a good mumsie to her. It will make all the difference. Xxxx

As a stop-gap until you find a suitable harness you could try fastening the harness you have got to her collar with a strap. I always do that with my foster Comet who has also been feral. He has managed to back out of the harness a couple of times but as it was tied to his collar I did not lose him. His collar is also fastened by putting it right up behind his ears at the narrowest point of his neck and fastening it there tight enough so that it cannot slip over his ears (but not so tight it strangles him obviously). Good luck with Pearl, she sounds and looks absolutely lovely. xx

Hi Sweatpea Thanks for your kind offer- I may get back to you. Thanks everyone else for your suggestions. I'm seeing Keith tomorrow so will see what he suggests when he meets Pearl.
