Having met sox last year I knew he was the one to do it. Brenda just needed convincing that sox would be a good fostering dog xxx

Tilly update. Tilly has been with us for a week and a half now and she is making slow but steady progress. She is still very nervous of people, particularly when they are standing up and/or approach her directly. Having said that, she is much more trusting of me and to a lesser extent Steve. She will happily share a sofa or our bed and be stroked now and will lick your hand. She is a happy little soul and loves to play, particularly with a battered old football in the garden. We've taken her out where there are people and dogs and she met two SLR dogs in Southwold (Dolly and ?Lenny). She's happiest when we go over the fields and she is obviously longing to go bunny-hunting! but I've told her that will be sometime in the future.

OK so Tilly has been here for 2 and a half weeks now and has made small steps in the confidence stakes. She still gets very easily spooked, particularly when you approach her when standing up. Putting on her coat, lead, pyjamas etc is still a trial to her but she no longer cringes, just hugs the nearest wall or.door while you contort yourself round her! Once done, she's relatively happy. She is the same when we feed her so we give her plenty of space to eat in peace. She's not shown any aggression around food with either us or Socks, it's purely anxiety. We've had a couple of anxiety wees and as she's shy and won't ask to go out I've been taking her into the garden every few hours to pee and she has performed perfectly. She goes through the night ok and doesn't wake us until around 7am. She's much happier when lying down and is getting to enjoy having gentle strokes and ear rubs on the sofa and jumps onto our bed for a cuddle before settling down and first thing in the morning. She still adores Socks and they always spend the first half of the night in the same bed together. Walks are a bit of a mixed bag; she loves being out and about but again is very nervous of people we meet. She's is quite strong and pulls like a train for the first few minutes and she gets the spooks if you get too close on the lead, it's the same problem of being frightened of people towering over her. We had a fabulous walk yesterday and walked over fields and tracks for an hour and a half; she was just brilliant and had a great time on 'bunny watch". Tilly is a lovely girl, she so wants to please and be loved, it's only her past horrors that stand in her way. Once she has overcome those she is going to be someone's very best friend. I'm going to try out Photobucket again but so that I don't'the lose all this I'll try it on another post....watch this space....

Small steps but ,as you say, you don't know about ghosts from her past. She is obviously gaining confidence with you and Socks.

She sounds alot like my Betsy was to start with. She was so nervous, the amount of times we had to cut a walk short after a noise startled her, she would dash back to the car. I daren't look her in the eyes, it was so distressing to see her so frightened. Now she is getting more confident by the day, it is wonderful. I would just say to anyone concerned about taking on a nervous dog, don't under-estimate the sense of achievement you will feel when you see your dog grow. It feels amazing. You will create a special bond with time and patience. Xxx

She is gorgeous, love the pics of the radar ears up on bunny watch, looks like they will have lots of fun together. I am sure she will slowly get more confident being around Socks, enjoy x
