We are so glad that Charlie has been rehomed. We had him here for a couple of weeks last summer with our Peggy. We fell in love with Charlie and was heart broken when we had to give him up. He was such a lovely lively dog and we always thought it was our Peggy that set him off. Peggy is a bitch that is often very pushy and frequently demanding attention. We could never leave them alone together as bitey-face episodes were constant both in the garden and all over the house... and we never knew how far they would escalate. Charlie was constantly in our ponds. We would like to see Charlie again.
In a way it is reassuring to see that even after a year Charlie is still excitable and we think that we did the right thing in separating him from Peggy. Peggy is manageable on her own, but I don't think it would have ever worked out with Charlie. Obviously we have our regrets... who wouldn't? Charlie was a wonderful dog in every way... except when Peggy set him off.
Thanks Roy. Charlie has settled in really, really well but I know what you mean about the play; he and Max are often joined at the hip and there is a lot of play. Thankfully though, Max is very patient and tolerant with Charlie and they seem like great friends - I only need to intervene occasionally to calm them down, usually on walks if the bitey-face gets a bit out of hand!
No major new news to update...all still well. There has been a tiny bit more destruction but nothing major and tiny when I compare it to when our other dogs were young. We're loving Charlie's affectionate side, all the hugs and cuddles - he's making us laugh a lot! Now that he is meeting more and more of our friends, they are all starting to fall for his charms too! He is also improving off the lead with other dogs too, much more willing to come back to us quicker than before and disappearing less (or at least disappearing for shorter periods of time!).
Some more pics and a zoomy-mad-5-minute-dash from yesterday's walk!...

Friends again...
I take an annual 'first day of school' pic to wind up my mummy friends posting all their photos on Facebook...it was Charlie's turn this year!
Yesterday was the second time Charlie had a skittish moment at this spot in the park and I managed to catch a bit of it!

Brilliant update as usual . I particularly love the first day back at school pic, I know what you mean and may have to steal the idea from you for next year
Another quick update for you - Charlie is still doing well and of course him and his cheeky, loving character have totally settled in now. Not much new which is natural enough at this stage...some slight naughtiness with tearing up some carpet but I've made peace with the fact it's just carpet and can be replaced when he stops finding it so interesting! Max was the same at around that age; we came home once to find that he (Max) had ripped it all up from the top of the stairs to a big pile of carpet at the bottom of the stairs so at least Charlie isn't at that level yet!
Other than that we are learning quickly about his love / slight OCD with squirrels at the park - if he sees one when it's time to go home we can forget getting him back for at least 20 minutes or so until he bounds around like Bambi trying to hunt them down!
Lots of new photos and a quick video at the end which was from today's walkees at the park.
We're hoping to make the walk this Sunday although have plans on Saturday night so it may depend how late a night it is...if we don't see you all this weekend we look forward to joining you on another soon!
Thanks
Chris
