Met Romi at Rownhams Services.she had taken Charlie to meet some cats and rabbits after collecting him from the kennels. Apparently he was quite relaxed about them, interested, but not straight into "let me at them" mode, so that's hopeful. He lay down quietly in the car, in fact he lay flat out to doze during part of the 45 minute journey...sorry Romi, but this one's better than Hamish!! Introductions went well. Lorna is in charge obviously, and it was Charlie who was egging Hugo to play, but Hugo is not quite sure yet! Maybe Hugo doesn't view him as much of a pushover as the black labrador he likes to push around!
He is quite interested in Mollie’s cooking in the kitchen, so we shall have to watch out for counter surfing for the first few days, but once he's used to the routine and he puts on a couple of pounds, I hope he will know what's expected. Hopefully some photos later.

Charlie's an Angel (pun intended) and is far too pretty and with too much black eyeliner to be a boy! Seriously he is a lovely friendly boy. He came to my place for half an hour on the way, and after a tail-up-bum greeting with my lot he soon relaxed and was having a run around the garden with them all. He showed only vague curiosity to the bunnies and cat and chickens at the farm. I foresee a queue for this boy in no time at all.

Jemima would love a playmate like him instead of Blue who she still can't entice to play. If John was retired I think we would be first in the queue as he looks and sounds amazing

He walked very well on the extending lead this afternoon, but was obviously itching to run and play with the dogs on Whitecliff. He was very relaxed with all the two legs he met, and leaned into each as he was petted. When Hugo went into the water he was keen to follow to the length of the lead. He ate his tea with relish, but not gobbled. After tea he f inally managed to get Hugo to play and they were racing around indoors, with the result he was panting as I took him to see Uncle Graham. Graham declared him fit, and ready for the snip on Tuesday. He will start the vaccs and worming then. The sore place in his left elbow,is healing, so he said wait and see how it goes. He weighs 20.1 kg and could do with a few more kg, but not too much. All good really..........

While we sat and watched TV peace reigned for a while, but youthful energy took over by 8.30, and Charlie and Hugo began playing again. It was mostly Charlie trying to involve Hugo by lying down near him and gently mouthing whatever was nearest: a foot, a leg, his neck.... Hugo was very patient, but I think he really wanted to sleep! This evening on our last walk down the road Hugo lunged at a local cat sitting on a low wall, before I noticed it, which set Lorna off jumping up and down and barking. Charlie who was slightly behind didn't get excited at all...good sign?
We're all upstairs now, and have told Charlie two or three times he's not allowed on our bed, so he's settled in one of the dog beds..... ...for now?!

Lovely photos Keith, Charlie is a very handsome dog and looks as if he is settling in well with Lorna and Hugo . Do hope we get to meet him before he goes to his forever home - I can't imagine he will be with you for long!
