GORJUS! Just caught up with this whilst in Sherborne with Ann. Who, with chagrin, is allowing me to return early to Poole to meet Charlie this afternoon .

Charlie slept soundly all night on the big round dog bed in our room. It had been an exciting day for him after all. I got up about 6.30 and went downstairs, with Hugo following. Charlie baulked at our bare boards, even though he walked up alright last night. I went to the garage to get an old sheet to drape down over, but unfortunately his bladder was overcome by anxiousness and he started to wee on a dog blanket, as he wouldn't be dragged I picked him up and carried him down, then he went out into the garden as normal. Since then he has walked up and down the draped stairs with no problem. Our early walk was cut short by the rain starting, but he met some more new people and dogs with no problem. He is definitely a leaner! Hugo is playing with him more readily now, but occasionally Charlie tries to mount him, and then he does object! While we sit in the kitchen Hugo often curls up in the corner of one of the beds, but this time someone joined him: Hugo didn't object, and they stayed like that for 15 mins, until there was a noise outside and then they both jumped up to investigate. On his return Hugo decided to sprawl a bit, but Charlie was undeterred: They stayed like that for another 15 mins or so: I think it's pretty obvious that Charlie would like to live with another dog! (And we've been impressed with Hugo's tolerance.) We're hoping the rain will stop before 4pm for the afternoon walk.

I popped in on K&M this morning for some Charlie cuddles, and got plenty of those....plus lots of kisses and a bit of chin nibbling as well!!! Hugo, not to be out done, joined in with doggy snogs too. Charlie's an absolutely gorgeous boy, very friendly, well balanced and gently playful. Definitely in need of a home with like minded play mates, not an 'only dog' house for this boy.

Awwww fab pics. WTG Hugo for being so nice to your new houseguest. Charlie is a real stunner and I bet he won't be hanging around for long.

Another full nights sleep I'm pleased to say. Even though he's a very good boy, the heightened alertness needed with a new foster is tiring! This morning we joined the GIN crowd for their monthly walk at Upton Park.. Loz and Andy were there with Alfie and Greta Alfie growled a bit at Charlie, probably as C still has his bits! Our neighbour Shirley is very taken with Charlie and asked to lead him. He was very well behaved and walked easily on the lead, only pulling to say hello to other dogs along the way. This afternoon we took them up to Kinson to the enclosed field. We let Charlie off and he chased around with Hugo with great glee. He came back to us quite well, but then he discovered he was just slim enough to walk between the wooden fence post and the metal gate, and trotted off for an explore! Help! Fortunately he found another way back into the field and appeared in the stream playing with Hugo! Before that I tried to get some video, but by the time I got the camera out, they were getting puffed! This morning Dani took this nice portrait shot We've solved the bed crowding in the kitchen by adding another mat As he gets used to us he is becoming a bit of a scamp, moving dog beds and blankets around, but we've managed to curb this before it moves on to chewing. Hugo is getting more used to him too, so the play squabbling is getting more active! All good fun!

He a heartbreaker with those looks with a mischief underneath by the sound of it. Sorry we couldn't make the GIN walk and meet him.

From what I saw of him, Charlie did very well today, especially considering the number of dogs. Afraid Alfie's never too enamoured with the entire boys. And Keith...no Andrew today, I left him at home grafting!!!

5.55 am..... I know this isn't early for some of you, but for retired folk like us, it is! Heard Charlie go down stairs, so got up, put on dressing gown and went down to let him out. Hugo came too, and they both did both in the garden, despite the rain. Came back inside and turned on the hall light to discover a big puddle on the carpet. A bit late the reprimand him, as he must have done it before I came down, so out with the kitchen paper to soak it up. Disappointed he hadn't done it near the back door, and hadn't asked me to wake up. Right from the start dear Hugo has licked my face to wake me up if he needs to go!
Heigh Ho, the joys of fostering!

Oooops. This why I love dogflaps...and hounds that are smart enough to use them! Hope it was just a one-off and that Charlie gets the hang of asking in plenty of time to go out.
