Sorry to hear this hasn't worked out.
Hamish sounds a lovely little hound, someone is gonna be very lucky to rehome him.

Lovely update Audrey. Hamish sounds a poppet but obviously not a good match for Kalli. Don't give up, there will be a suitable dog out there. Hamish needs a mother figure and Kalli would obvious like a dog who gives her space. . It is not a failure just a learning curve for you and the dogs.

So sorry to read this Audrey. I am sure he will walk back into Ro's like he had never gone. A truer word was never spoken (typed). Hamish has just slotted straight back in with the pack and seems very happy. A real shame that it didn't work out at SBM, but it has been a very educational experience for everyone concerned. We now know a lot more about what Hamish needs to be happy. Audrey's assessment of him is spot on. This boy definitely needs a pack around him, or at least one dog who will interact with him in a quietly confident way. He likes to be able to have some physical contact with his 4 legged friends, but doesn't like rough play. I think he would be best suited to be with a dog or dogs of his own size as the bigger ones do seem to overwhelm him a bit. He had a lovely gentle chase in the enclosed field at Manor Farm with an elderly JRT and a young fluffy thing (tibetan terrier-ish type girlie) and with no-one trying to flatten him or course him down he really enjoyed himself.

He is sooo sweet.

Hello ladies Phillipa mentioned Hamish to Pat (for Sadie) and having read about Hamish he sounds such a sweetie. Sadie likes a cuddle with a fellow furry too & also used to get sad when mums old greyhound was too old & poorly to oblige. Is this a possible match for Sadie (who's coming along nicely) Pat is interested, if you ladies think there's a match for these two gentle souls (young love maybe)?? Do let us kno Thanks Karen & Pat Xx

Ps Sadie also loves a gentle play - she is over whelmed by rough boisterous dogs but loves a good game of chase me with smaller hounds - she's very funny & gentle, they might have a ball!
Lol K Xx

Thank you all so much - your support and encouragement is fab + Jenny, Ro and Donna are SUPERSTARS Just got home. Have visitors here for a meal this evening so can't hang too long at the mo, just wanted to post these pics of Hamish and Kalli with Ro's pack this afternoon. The photos say it all. Hamish enjoying what he needs - dog physical touch (NOT that I'm calling Ro a dog you understand!) All the hounds in the kitchen Kalli tolerated being in the same room as the others ... ... provided she had her back turned to them ... (just noticed looking at the photo, this was before I took her lead off so she had no choice but to stay at this point - presumably turning her back was the best of the worst options until I unclipped her) ... until Kodi moved and touched her, then - back into her comfort zone. My heart bleeds for her So glad to know that Hamish is getting the dog-comfort he so badly needs And I will do my very, very best to get Kalli what she needs (oh yes and hopefully me what I need too!) Will post more about the positive learning for Kalli and for me when I get the chance.

Hamish wouldn't like it here after all. Although Hugo doesn't mind cuddling, he also likes rough and tumble.
Mind you, at the moment Charlie seems to be offering more of that than he wants sometimes!
Hope you have the right offer soon Hamish.

A quiet night here as expected. Hamish slept all night on various dogbeds on the bedroom floor, then came up on the bed for a cuddle at about 6.30am.....he is funny, his front end appears on the bed, but his back end has to be lifted up or he just flops sideways and falls off. Off out in a mo, so we'll see how he fares being left with the pack. We have another hound (Jet) arriving this afternoon for just an overnight stay so it'll be a bit of a full house later on.

Just got back from a lovely relaxed walk at Manor Farm, where we acquired Jet, and met up with Nicola with Indie and Lolly. All the dogs were very well behaved, as was the weather, and now there are horizontal hounds all over the floor and furniture here. Hamish managed the journeys there and back with just stringy dribble and kept his breakfast on the inside, bless him.

Sounds as though the travelling is improving slowly. This has been a good experience all round...more info on what Hamish needs, and also what Ms K needs in a potential house mate. Neither of mine cuddle up together, although I suspect Greta might, just possibly, with the right friend, it's just not for Alfie...he's a typically bully boy and prefers to cuddle his mum.

We managed to sneak a walk in between the showers today and once again just dribble from Hamish in the car. Due to his tummy being a bit upset his neutering has been postponed for a week or so until he is feeling back in tip-top condition. He continues to be a perfect little hound around the house, due mainly to my hounds and their calm confident aura. He certainly needs this kind of atmosphere to be a happy boy.
