No, not at all! He doesn't really need them to be honest, he's barely touched his wound. He had his first check-up today and the vet said his wound looked fine, which is good. On the way/way back in the car, we were driving through really loud thunder and lightning, with rain hammering down everywhere - and Bertie just slept the entire time! He wasn't bothered at all! He's a dream in the car, just jumps in, settles down, and doesn't move till you're there! I bought him a halti yesterday (because he pulls strongly to go see other dogs), and we used it properly for the first time today. After a bit of pawing at it, he just accepted it and walked beautifully. He walked perfectly to heel, and didn't pull at all. He pulled a tiny bit to go see other dogs, but even then, it was easy to call him back to my side and get him to walk on when asked. He continues to be brilliant with every dog he meets. He loves all the young dogs, and is desperate to play. There's also another thing we can tick off Bertie's list: children! On our walk today we met a group of deaf children outside the deaf school near us. Bertie spotted them from far away, and when we got close he wanted to go see them. They all wanted to stroke the dogs, but seemed to like Bertie the best. At one point he must have had about 6 children all stroking him, and he didn't bat an eyelid! He was happy to stand there so they all got a chance to stroke him. So I think he could live with children no problem. He's just so calm and gentle, especially in the house. I was very impressed with him today, he has such a lovely nature. Finally, he continues to be clean in the house. Although we did have a bit of crying the night he got home from the vets (which is fair enough, after having an operation), he has slept soundly every other night. He's definitely got saluki in him though, as when Fionn starts barking he joins in with a classic saluki howl!! Anyway, I'm back off to uni tonight, so Hannah will continue to update his thread from now on. All I can say is I think he's a very special dog. He has the most beautiful temperament and manners and he'll make someone a lovely companion

great update. When I did my part of the transport run my neighbour, Jaeme, who's 11, came along and it was plain to see he was going to be good with children as he was more than happy to get lots of hugs from her. I do hope this lovely little man finds the perfect forever home soon. He really does have the most lovely character, and he's so pretty too!

Bertie continues to do well; he's recovered very nicely from his op last week and the stitches look good. There is not much to 'update' really, as this lad is very easy and is doing much the same as before. He has improved a lot on the lead with the use of the halti, although he does still enjoy walking a step ahead rather than alongside you, but we are trying to teach him the 'heel' command. He will still get excited and do a little twirl and jump around when he spots other dogs as he so wants to play but will stop and calm down when told. I suspect this will ease off once he is allowed off lead and regular play with other dogs. Speaking of other dogs, he continues to love every dog he meets, regardless of size or breed, and just wants to play. We currently have a fourth dog here for a week, a family friend's lovely lurcher; although Bertie was rather excited by him at first they are all co-habiting very nicely together now. Occasionally Bertie will try to play with Seamus, but he doesn't 'do' playing! In the house he is still clean, and will usually take himself outside if he needs the toilet. He's sleeping well overnight and will settle down with the others, only waking up if one of them gets disturbed. During the days, he's a pretty chilled out, laid back boy. He does like to be around the humans, wherever we happen to be, but he does also take himself off to the living room to snooze if all is fairly settled and quiet. Most evenings he can be found snuggled on the sofa while we're watching TV. He is still on the skinny side so we are feeding him up, and thankfully he's a good eater so this isn't problem. I don't think there's much more to say about this boy really; he is a young lurcher, who can get excitable and loves to play, but on the whole is very mature, calm and well behaved. Good with dogs, good with people, very sweet and very pretty. With ongoing input and a little training as time goes on, he will be a dream dog. Some pictures in the sunshine today;

This little man is so lovely. He has a lovely character which is clearly coming out now he has a happy and secure foster home. Let's hope it's not too long before someone comes along and falls for Bertie. I would say he's just about the perfect young dog and anyone would be very lucky to snap him up.

Had home check today and passed ☺ just need to find the right 'ball of energy' to go with our 'ball of energy' and Bertie seems to fit the bill on paper, as it were but need to know if he is cat friendly or not as we don't want to waste peoples time if he isn't.,
