Had a good progress report from her new Dad this morning:
"So far so good. Friday night was completely quiet, probably because they had all been rushing around the garden for ages and could barely keep their eyes open!
Most of yesterday they did what all lurchers do, play/sleep/play/sleep, eat a bit, more play and so on.
Last night was much the same as Friday – they all crashed out in the beds in the lounge until bedtime. The kitchen was still in one piece this morning, although a couple of the cardboard boxes we have in there are now a bit the worse for wear (and teeth).
She and Ziva seem to have hit it off quite well, and it’s Ziva who now walks under Phoebe’s belly, rather than Maddie walking under hers. We didn’t realise quite how tall she is!
She’s fully insured as well now, so as long as there are no illnesses within the next 10 days, all should be fine (standard policy exclusions).
In addition to mine and Jackie's slippers, she seems to have taken a particular liking to a large stuffed cat that we use as a door stop – so far we’ve found it down the garden 3 times. We did manage to stop her from trying to sneak it past us last night as we were having a BBQ. I swear she was trying to walk on tiptoe!
Will keep you posted on progress, along with photos.
Regards
Simon & Jackie"

What a great update from Jackie and Simon. Just what DeeDee/Phoebe needed (and FM Nancy wanted for her)...friends to play with all day long. Happy days!

Just had a follow-up from Simon:
"Hi Keith Here are a few pics as promised.
You can see that they all hate each other and that she won’t like it here! And that it’s true what they say about lurchers being couch potatoes!!!!
Will send more as things progress.
Please pass on our thanks to all involved. She will have a great life with us and her new bestest best mates.
Regards
Simon"

I've had another lovely update from Simon and Jackie:
"So far so good. In the week after she arrived she had an infection from one of her internal stitches from the spaying that caused a bit of concern – Jackie found her with her legs and belly covered in blood (which turned out to be from a burst abscess from the stitch) , but Phoebe was completely unconcerned about the whole thing! Straight to the vet, and after a course of antibiotics and painkillers she is fine and full of bounce now. Interestingly, our vet reckons she is much younger than we all thought, probably around 6-8 months or so. She is eating really well, and putting most of the food into growing upwards! When she first arrived, her tail touched the ground by about an inch. Now it’s off the ground completely, also by about an inch! Her coat is also getting softer, but she is not quite like Ziva just yet, who is silkier than silky the silk worm in his silk PJs!
Out on the walk, she found that the things called New Forest ponies were very scary at first. They still are, but she’s getting used to them now and just gives them a wide berth. If they don’t want to play with her, that’s their loss! She also runs out on the forest without a lead now, and has great fun going through the bogs with the other two dogs. Jackie often comes home with three black dogs, not just the one.
She is off to the vet tomorrow for her second Lepto jab. It will be interesting to see how much she weighs now, as she was 22kg when she first arrived, and put on 1kg after her antibiotics. Personally I think she’s going to be a speed merchant once she works out how to use her legs properly, and bulks up a bit more, much like Ziva.
A couple of weeks ago we all took an outing to our son’s pub (he is about to take over as chef and landlord of the Silver Plough at Pitton, just outside Salisbury). She was very well behaved, in fact the best of the three, both in the car and at the pub, and thought our grandson, who is only a year old, was absolutely gorgeous."

Lovely to see she's so settled. I'd question the assessment by the vet of her age though...she came in three months ago, and was certainly older than 3-5 months old then....

So pleased she has settled and got over her infection. Looks like her legs have grown to me. I don't think she is that young.
