Took DeeDee, Alfie and Suki to the enclose field. Thanks for the tip Keith. No running off as soon as her lead was off. She just stayed with us all whilst all three dogs sniffed around. Threw the ball but they just wanted to sniff and stay together calmly. A bit of playing then a very boisterous bossy (not very nice) black labx came charging in. He and DeeDee had a chase for a bit then we asked the owner to stop their dog as he was getting too excited and we did not know what he was like. About to leave then a large German Shepherd arrived. No problem. Then a young Irish setter. No problem. When the black lab started to become a bit too boisterous again DeeDee ran up to stand by my legs, received some ear ruffles and a 'good girl' then lay down.
A little Shitsu came into the enclosure and I really dont think that DeeDee even noticed.
She goes out for her piddles now. Just a shame that she will have her op just as she is learning 'to go' outside but she is quick to learn.
Have her chicken and rice ready to cook tomorrow. She has only been here a few days and I feel like a clucking mother hen.
Oh neatly forgot .... Suki got agitated whilst in the enclosure and kept looking out towards the woods/forest. Something there she did not like. DeeDee was very aware of her discomfort and kept going up to reassure her and give her kisses.

Will be thinking of DeeDee tomorrow, and sending safe GA and heal quickly vibes. She really does sound as though she's bonded so nicely with Suki and Alfie already. The little tiff of earlier forgotten it seems.

Just back from leaving DeeDee with Graham and his girls. Feel a bit lost so will blitz the car. Expect to receive a call lunchtimeish.
A very sweet trusting girl. Her true nature is coming out and she is a cheeky treasure ... Pinching shoes but her favourite at the mo is the large scrubbing brush from its hideyhole in the kitchen.
She met a guinea pig whilst waiting at the vet. A bit of sniffing then she just turned her back and looked for something else to interest her. Could be different had it been a bit more mobile.
She, along with her sidekick Suki, have been digging a hole in the garden along the fence but as soon as I said no they stopped and went away waggy tailed ... For the moment.

Don't know why but dogs in new environments seem to like to collect things. Rowlf did when he first came. At least Deedee didn't munch the guinea pig!!! Hope all goes well.

It's like a security blanket for a young child. Monty still takes one of my slippers from the kitchen, upstairs to my bed when I go out. He never chews it, just wants to be near a 'Daddy smell'. Must be a masochist taking a slipper!!

Collected DeeDee 2.15. Poor girl weed in the car on the way home. She is stretched out asleep (roached for a moment) on her bed by my bed with the windows wide open and a gentle jasmine scented breeze wafting through. A and S snoozing on the bed too. DeeDee gave Suki a very sweet little upon her return. My two seemed a bit morose this am without her. ..... Graham thinks that she is only about 8 months old! I can't believe how relaxed and mature she is. She has not had a season. She has a few little skin irritation spots on her tummy but the vet thinks this could be from salt water, grass seed, anything really which should soon dry up. Not quite sure how I will keep her quiet on our walks for the next 10 days.

Glad it went well. As for her age - she seems so much more mature than 8 months! No wonder her teeth are so white. Sounds very 'zen' in the recovery room - good luck keeping the calm atmosphere going. Big for the patient and 'be gentle' vibes for S and A.

Pleased to hear the lovely DeeDee is back home and all is well, but I was surprised her estimated age is about 8 months, she is so laid back and well behaved! We really enjoyed meeting her on Saturday along with Nancy, Alfie and Suki and had a lovely walk together in Broadstone Rec. She wasn't a bit worried by Merlin and Lulu whizzing about! Do hope she quickly recovers from her op and doesn't mind gentle lead walks for a little while xx
