DeeDee now had her post op ten days and from this evening can have the fun and games she has been itching for. She and Suki play beautifully as they have done so from the very onset. DeeDee definitely needs a companion who will play with her.
Tuesday DeeDee came down with kennel cough but she is on Ronaxan along with Manuka honey/lemon juice/hot water and showedtremendous improvement. She did not want her breakfast yesterday but her appetite was back this am. Tried her on junior Benelyn but she did not keep it down. Great on the carpet.
As of Wednesday she will be clear to mix with other dogs.
All three dogs out in the garden in the sunshine. Their beds out airing too. (Washed bedding off one as could smell piddle but not sure whether it was a proper missed one or just my nose) but the memory foam mattress off one has been chewed and destroyed. I suspect the culprit is DeeDee but in her defence she is only a baby and my fault for not watching.
She will have a little dig in the garden but as soon as I say no she stops. Again ... A baby.
She has fitted in brilliantly.

Which one of my two will realise that they have lost their memory foam mattress? Rather annoying but that's pets/fostering I guess.
DeeDee does suffer slightly more than the other two with the heat but she is adept at finding the coolest spot and going to sleep. A very chilled special girl.

DeeDee has been a model patient. The meds kicked in quickly alleviating her coughing. Just waiting for her 'quarantine' period to end tomorrow, a few days lapse then her final vacs.
She really is the most adorable girl and has fitted in brilliantly.
She can be a little stubborn but in a lovely way ie if called to go out for her last wee for the night and she has decided that she would rather head for her bed.
We had a pre-arranged school event to attend yesterday and had planned to take our two but due to DeeDee's kennel cough couldn't so asked someone in to dogsit for the day. She took it in her stride but was she trying to tell us something as soon after we got home there was a piddle in the hallway, despite the kitchen door being open. There was also a little deposit on the carpet this morning. We had been clear of piddling/pooing for days now.

Well done DeeDee for being a good patient. Maybe the accidents were because someone else was there and she was a little unsure. I am sure things will get back to norm quickly. She will be so excited being able to go out again and have a run.

Found a little hole in the garden where she had fun digging whilst the old bag was out yesterday ... Have to remember she is still very young but on the other hand so mature and laid back for her age.
Suki has caught kennel cough and not a well girl. Poor DeeDee can't understand why her constant playmate doesn't quite feel up to it.

Oh no, Nancy so sorry to hear this. Poor Suki. Do hope she gets well soon and Alfie doesn't get it. I thought Suki was immunised so she shouldn't get it badly. Thinking of you.

I have just watched DeeDee get onto a dog bed, squat down and pee!!! Aaaaagh! The kitchen door has been open all morning.
Why? . Is she annoyed that we left the three of them yesterday? . Have a visitor staying so routine and room structure different? . Suki not well? . Not as many walks as usual due to kennel cough? . Being bloody minded? . Bored? . Lazy?
She has been so good.

Not sure this will be of any help but Dexter was so nearly 'there' with house training so many times, but if there was the slightest (teeniest) upset in routine he would revert to widdling/pooing indoors. The more he settled the less he did it and we haven't had any accidents now for over a month, so hope we have crossed the finish post with this one. I got the impression he was just so insecure any change/upset had him reverting to what might, on the surface (no pun intended) look like naughty behaviour, but I am convinced was just worry and one or two of his little wobbly internal wheels coming off. Took approx 4 months (would have been faster, probably if I had been a bit more expert). There is a great post on here somewhere with lots of advice which helped a lot but can't remember where.

You have to treat her like a 8 week old pup nancy and take her outside regularly and say pee pee or whatever word you use and lots of praise...untrained dogs dont just go out because the door is open they have to be encouraged all the time and will pee when they want to go wherever they are....so I would say atfer meals and every hour out to the garden with her.I still praise all my dogs when they pee in the garden

Hi Nancy of those possible reasons are human traits, dogs don't do things because they're annoyed with you or to be bloody minded. There's a posh word for attributing human behaviour/emotions to animals -anthropomorphising. Geek alert!! Mine never pee in the garden when they have free reign, only when we take them out there before breakfast, before I go to work, before bed. ETA: glad to hear DeeDee's on the mend but sending some cough soothing vibes for Suki and keep clear vibes for Alfie. xxx
