I'm pleased you've got her back again. The poor little thing must have been very anxious away from you. But now she's back she can relax and recover from this nasty ordeal.

Meggie's day started not very good today. She was very quiet and did not eat her breakfast. She did not really want to be outside for exercise, just wanted to be in her bed. However when I came back from shopping later she was pleased to see me and ate her lunch all up. Possibly the effects of last night pain relief had worn off first thing this morning and the morning ones had kicked in by lunchtime. She then spent some time outside in the sun with the others before resting again. Her leg has gone down a little, but she still is not putting weight on it. A few photos. and feeling good and playing with Cocoa

Glad she's feeling a bit better this afty. That looks as if she has had some wire of something caught round her leg at sometime, poor baby. Sending her more Healing Vibes.

Lots of strong healing vibes for the lovely Meggie. She could have been caught up in a rabbit snare looking at her old wound.

I took Meggie back to the vet on Monday and he was very pleased at her progress. The leg at this time was still quite swollen but over the last couple of days the swelling has gone down even more and is nearly back to normal.
She is still not using her leg at all just running about on three legs. I have got to try and encourage her to use the affected leg by lifting up one or two of her other legs. When I do this and she puts her affected leg down it hurts her and she yelps, so I am not too keen to do this ATM. The continued lameness is a little worrying and may need further investigation, but we will have to wait and see.
She is still on 3 lots of medication for a few more days and then back to the vet on Monday.
Apart from the leg problem she has settled in really well and plays with Cocoa quite a lot. Pinky is being a little stand offish, but today I can tell she would like to join in with them while they play. I don't think she will be able to resist a spot of puppy playing much longer. Billy let's her lick his face and snuggle up with him and even Fiver plays. bitey face with her.
Just like a typical puppy she decided to chew and take a chunk out of the dining room table leg this morning. Needless to say she is not the first puppy in this house to do this.!

Sounds like she is getting much better, she will soon put her foot down when trying to run about with the others as the pain subsides. Keep healing little Megs.

Meggie's mobility has greatly improved since last Thursday when she finally started to use her hind leg for the first time in nearly two weeks. It was just now and then at first but improvement continued over the weekend and she is now using it all the time. She had the last of her medication on Sunday but as she is still slightly lame I will continue with Metacam for a while.
We returned to the vet hospital yesterday and he was very pleased with how much she had improved and no need to go back.
The vet reiterated that there is a possibility that she has a lack of mobility in her hips and her hind rear leg. She has not had her hips xrayed but she has now had her rear legs xrayed three times by three different vets and results were inconclusive. It is a just wait and see situation.
Now Meggie is starting to feel better she is turning into a typical naughty puppy. She is at the stage where everything goes straight in her mouth and I am continually retrieving stones, twigs, plants, horse poo etc etc. I say she is naughty but in reality she is a very good girl and a real pleasure to everyone who meets her.
After much thought and discussion with Jenny around Meggie's medical issues, Bruce and I feel that the best place for her is to stay with us and we will cope with whatever may arise.
So very pleased and happy to say that we are back to five hounds again. Will I never learn!!!!!
