I've been enjoying catching up with the updates on the lovely Comet and saw that Neil's dad has died. My condolences to both of you... it's a sad and difficult time for you

Thank you all. The family are pulling together and it looks as if we are all, including the hounds, going to the woodland burial in Scotland next week. Certainly not the kind of experience we look for but Comet is going to have done a lot of travelling and staying in strange places soon. He is a very easy going hound who welcomes attention from everybody and nothing seems to worry him now.

Can't believe this boy is still waiting!! He's gorgeous, such lovely colouring and markings. Plus he sounds perfectly behaved! He's definitely an 'if only' dog for me!

He's definitely an 'if only' dog for me! Me too...he's confident but lovely with it. For the price of a good blast in the morning, and a little lurcher savvy-ness from his humans you could have yourself one fabulous dog. I can't believe he's had no interest at all.

Comet, Sophie, Dylan, Ollie, Neil and I arrived back from Scotland last night after a ten hour journey plagued by motorway hold-ups. All the dogs' patience was exemplary, including Comet's. He became very wise to the motorway services' drill and wasted no time relieving himself when taken for a pit stop. In spite of the sadness, our stay was not at all gloomy and the regular dog walks and games provided much welcome relief. ( Like Comet and Sophie chasing each other flat out round and round a wooden band stand in the hotel garden in full view of the assembled family of mourners!) The day after the funeral we found a stubble field stretching over a whole scottish hillside which looked game free and Comet made full use of the space, dwindling to a speck on the horizon before wheeling back towards us and doing it again and again. Unfortunately we did not have a camera with us but even with one I think we would mostly have recorded a blur in the distance! He had just had one day of travelling, followed by a day with only lead walking and definitely needed to stretch his legs. Strong emotions for me though, hoping my trust in him was justified. Thankfully, it was. On our last day, we took Neil's Mum to Dunfermline and visited the romanesque church and the adjoining palace where Comet had a brief panic when confronted by the narrowest, steepest spiral staircase I have ever seen. To his credit, he overcame his fear and walked calmly down with me holding on to his harness, and back up again later. The narrow streets were very busy but Comet did not flinch from the heavy traffic close to us either. He has become a very brave and trusting dog and it would be fantastic if he could go to a home where he would be given the opportunity to use his brain and athletic ability. He has become used to having his play/training time every evening and like Sophie and Dylan will not let me forget it even when I would happily just slump in front of the tv! A few random pics: Concentrating hard. I do not think he will ever find stairs natural: Book ends with Sophie: Walk towards Loch Devon lined with spider webs:

More "home" pictures, just to show off this shiny boy! We all went to the Celia Cross fundraiser yesterday and met lots of other hounds and people. Comet, Sophie and Dylan also had a go at the individual straight line "racing". The dogs were held by an assistant at one end of a fenced grass strip and the owner went to the other end and called them. Comet was not too sure he wanted to risk it at first but eventually enjoyed himself doing his "show canter" towards me, white legs and tail end flashing beautifully in the sunshine with a big grin on his face. Unfortunately, his flashy action meant he was not exactly speedy. I know he can be fast but he is far too laid-back to over exert himself if nothing looks terribly urgent. (show him a glimpse of a squirrel tail and he becomes a blur!)

Copied from the Celia Cross photo fest thread: [edit] Photo's removed, because there's a more complete, betterer selection HEREA up to date video would be great. One can't get a hint of his white socks flashing as he zooms. The photos are starting to make it seem like to all chilled and mellow all the time. Not 100% accurate...

Met this boy again on Sunday at Celia Cross. If I was interested in a permanent second, he would be top of the list. He is obviously handsome but he also has a very well rounded personality. I think thanks to Annette's hard work, he really is the finished article and is all ready to be welcomed into his forever home and give immense pleasure to his new family. He's bright but also willing and well socialised. Everyone who comes on this forum looking for a hound should take a careful look at this lad - they won't regret it.

Now don't get me wrong................but having had Lurchers for many years, don't they ALL do super zoomies as well as chilled out on the sofa for most of the day? But then I guess the answer to a question is only easy if you know the answer................any-hoo, Commet is super gorgeous and the photos really don't do him justice at all...........someone out there is missing out on a super dogglet......

Fabulous video! So,,, he's not totally docile... But if you look carefully, you will see that at no time does he interfere in any way with Dylan or Sophie or bump into the furniture. There is quite a bit of method in his madness and he could be stopped with just one word: "Bed!". And he would go and lie down.
