Great to see how his shoulders have muscled-up and his eyes are sooo much softy/calmer.
Top job Annette. He's a lucky, lucky boy.
Where is his permanent mum?!

I am sure his permanent Mum is just waiting around the corner! In the meantime, Comet is being a perfect friend to all of us, including the dogs. We all get our regular daily snog and he has learnt to be gentle and calm when necessary. We all went on a day's outing last saturday to Badbury Rings and Kingston Lacy house and parkland. The morning walk around Badbury Rings was great with beautiful views around the countryside but the cattle were grazing in the walking area so we had to make sure the dogs did not go near them. Off to Kingston Lacy house for our picnic before a walk around the park and the walled garden before Neil and I took it in turn to go around the house (Murillo, Zurbaran and Rubens paintings!) The dogs were able to put their training to good use, they have all learnt to stay behind me on a loose lead now which makes long lead walks a … walk in the park! (sorry!). Lying down and waiting coming along nicely too. It does not take long for Comet to learn anything, show him what you want a couple of times and he has got it, he pays attention and just wants to please. Tethered near us while we have our picnic: Walk in the park with the house in the background: Waiting while Neil is inside sightseeing:

Wow he looks great. His coat looks darker. How relaxed they look tethered up while you have your picnic. I wish mine would do that!!!

We went to Petworth for a day out today. Long walk in the park, lunch break and quick tour of the house, with Neil and I taking turns at dog-sitting. We met lots of dogs, all well-behaved apart from a little old terrier who was off-lead and came blundering up to were we were sitting with the four dogs and stood in the middle of our pack before his owner came and retrieved him! Ollie had to tell him he did not approve of course but the hounds only looked at him in a slightly bemused manner.
Their attitude to the deer herds we encountered were, I am afraid, rather more interested than bemused but I am quite pleased with them. Nobody lunged, nobody stood on their hind legs or made a noise. Very civilised really!
I am sorry we have no pictures. Neil forgot his camera and we have just learnt that his father died in hospital this afternoon. He is flying up to Scotland tomorrow and things might be a bit chaotic here for the next week so bear with me if updates are not forthcoming for a bit.
