Just to second Kevin's thanks to Jenny, not least for her help and advice about Charley and the introduction of the new boy which was invaluable. Thanks also to Wikupiki and we would love to join in any walks near here. Littlealfie1, if you spot Dexter do come and introduce yourself. Dexter needs to meet lots of new friends in this new strange place and Charley is always very happy to meet new mates (outdoors). Photo of Andy, Dexter and, under his front paw, Charley having a kip.

Many thanks to everyone for lovely messages and support. Max and Andy it looks like Dexter is happy as Larry there. Yes it has been really hard, but we both knew that it just wasn't working and that there was a better home for Dexter. He is a really brilliant dog and fun when not scared. I think you should look forward to watching him run, its the best thing ever especially if he is with other lurchers so when the time is right and it is safe this will be one of the best things to see with him.
Miss him around of course but I know that he is in a home much more suited to him and he adores other dogs so hopefully will win Charley round eventually.
Jenny thank you so much for everything.
Max and Andy, enjoy that dog, he is lovely.

I'm hoping to meet Dexter before too long - maybe on the April Hants walk. It would be lovely to see him running with Alice

Well finally! After 3 days Photobucket has let me upload some long, overdue photos.
We had the absolute joy of a play date with Dexter and his new family on Sunday and, of course, I got the camera out. Before the piccies though... I just want to say a couple of things. I know some of these pictures will be difficult for you Kevin and Moira, but I really hope you can take some comfort and reassurance from them too. Letting Dexter go must have been one of the hardest things you have ever had to do and I can only admire and respect you for putting his needs so far above your own. Having seen how much more comfortable and confident he is with Max and Andy (well, by Dexter's standards), I can reassure you that you did the kindest thing you possibly could and you should both take full credit for being the best carers Dexter could have had.
So, on with the photo fest. And be warned; it's a bit of an overload.
First out the blocks were Talli and Dexter. They had an absolute ball.
We all lost count of the roundie-roundies they did.
A short hiatus to do a bit of recall and treat munching. Andy is in the checked shirt and, although Dexter was a little shy, he never once refused to go to Andy. It was very bitter sweet to see.
He even approached Mark for a treat (although Mark was employing the same tactics he had to with Kasa).
Having burned the worst of his cabin fever off, Charlie agreed to come out and play. She looks dinky but she's got the heart, and teeth, of a lion!
You'd think that would be enough, but Dexter was ready for a second blast, so Kasa did the honours...
One very happy, chappie.
And my favourite of the afternoon. Could they be any more camp?!
Kevin and Moira, if you would like any of these photos, please pm me and I will send you the full hi-res copies.

I had a huge smile on my face as I looked at these great photos. It's lovely to hear this good news and to see him having such fun. None of this would have been possible without all the time and care that Kevin and Moira put in to helping this little man on the way to a new life. Kudos to you both for your commitment and for sending him on his way to such a happy situation.

But don't lose hope Kevin and Moira - your perfect hound will come along. Smashing pics Donna. My fave is the after-the-run one of Dexter and Kasa walking side by side.
