An update on the lad from Countrygirl:I wanted to let you know how proud I am of Shaun. He is so quick to learn and wants to please so very much. He has muscled up a lot on his back end with all the exercise he gets and has a growing number of fans who all think he is absolutely lovely. I cant thank SLR enough for letting him come to live with us. We are so happy. Sue

It is so lovely to hear that Shaun is doing so well. And is so happy. I am also pleased that his first adopters were courageous enough to let us know that they were not the right forever home for him. They were lovely people, just not the ones for Shaun. Sue, he looks so so happy

It was very brave of Shaun's first adopters to realise he was not happy living in a town and it must have been very very hard to let him move on. He has a very genuine fear of traffic especially coming from behind him. I take him out for some lead work very early when there is hardly any traffic about and he is getting more confident but I know he is genuinely worried. Something in his past before he came to SLR maybe. He had to be lifted into the estate car when he first came but leaving the back up all day with pieces of sausage hidden in amongst a duvet in the back sorted that out!!! but he really distrusts vehicles. Anyway - if he refuses to come out early in the morning then he need never face pavement walking again - it matters not to us (but he then might have to go and have his nails clipped and we have yet to find out how much he loves the vet!!) if only we could get inside their heads for 24 hours life would be easier, his distrust could be anything but something he has never forgotten"IE shut in boot, chucked out of car,or something as simple as hooter or alarm going off next to him frightened him or even a close shave in a RTA who knows only he does so it is slow and steady progress, sadly we never know what they have endured in there life before and can only guess, he is such a lovely boy and one day some thing will click in there brain and trust your judgement completely knowing you will not let him come to any harm( i am still waiting for rosies brain to catch up though bless her) keep up the pavement walk and talk in a low reassuring voice ,and don't hold the lead to tight as he will feel the tension come off you and it won't relax him, keep up the good work with him he is adorable.

We have had Alice from a young pup and even before she was ready to go out walking we used to carry her down the road and sit at the bustop getting her used to traffic yet she is still scared of vans and lorries. I do exactly as you said Angie and don't make a fuss at all, just keep walking. Maybe one day she will grow out of it.
Lovely to hear Shaun is doing so well. Well done Sue.
