Please meet the strikingly beautiful Willow, who came under SLR's wing today:
The owners are very cut up about having to part with her, as they love her dearly, but are being very responsible as regards her future. A change in working arrangements within the family unit means that her owners will not be able to devote the time to the lass that she needs, especially since their other dog is an oldie who is finding it difficult to cope with a typical bouncy young Lurcher.
This is from the initial contact with SLR:
She has a sweet submissive nature, has been raised with children, another dog and chickens and is broken to cattle although unfortunately we do not have sheep near us so she has encountered neither these nor cats.
She is good with other dogs (she still plays like a puppy), clean in the house, barks little except when playing and has no special dietary requirements. Unfortunately, despite our efforts she currently does not travel well by car. She has just finished her first season.
She really is a beautiful dog with a sweet nature who needs an experienced lurcher owner and that's why I'm asking for your help.
Willow is just twelve months old, stands 31" at the shoulder, & is apparently an accomplished thief & countersurfer.
She is very timid at the moment:
She is, however, gradually coming out of her shell: the tail that seemed permanently fixed between her legs is now frequently wagging, & she is sticking to me like velcro.
Willow doesn't quite know what to make of my crew, who have as usual been as good as gold with a new arrival in their home-kennel & left her in peace after the initial getting-to-know-you sniffing session.
Winnie says "Don't worry Dad, I'll look after her."
Willow has plucked up the courage to explore the entire house & garden:
If I didn't already have my full quota of hounds, & if Willow didn't so closely resemble my dear Seamus, then there's no way that she would be going anywhere else.
As it happens, Willow will be having visitors tomorrow morning, & although nothing is set in stone, it would appear that there is every possibility that she will be departing from Harlow for her forever home, where we know that she would be loved every bit as much as she was in her previous one.
