We've had a busy few days since Daisy arrived on Wednesday. No 1 daughter came back from a holiday in Guatamala on the same day, the three girls went shopping in Cambridge on Thursday, No 1 daughter went to a wedding yesterday and we went round Tesco after a bit of Dad's taxi service. Such fun. Any way, the point is that I can now post some pictures of Daisy when she arrived, and a couple of Thursday. The pictures don't really give a sense of her ribs and tail, or how matted her ears were (although the first one on this thread does). Jenny gets her out the car We look her over Viv walked up her up the hill to see what she was like on the lead. You can just make out some of the crud on her ears. You can't hide You shall be hugged, whether you like it or not. By the evening, she's nearly relaxed. By Thursday we had progressed to: And by midnight, the cheeky moo had got to this: Yesterday's job was to get rid of the dead fur on her ears. She can now lift and waggle them. The head seems to me a bit smooth JRT or fox terrier, but she's got a longdog back and hindquarters. We have to take no 1 daughter home in Kent later today, so it's unlikely that there will be many more photos taken today. She was left alone for a while yesterday and she didn't rip up the house, furniture or kitchen, nor did she appear to pine. She's settled in very well, although she does snatch treats (i.e. the cooked meat wrapping her antibiotics). No recall yet - she doesn't know who hell this Daisy is

What spare tyre?
We'd snap if the skin was too tight.
No bark yet.
She's stopped moulting and has started grooming herself.

Hi, I am new to your forum. Jenny was so kind to post 2 of our lurchers here a while ago. In case the 2 applications for Daisy don't work out, I know that there are at least 2 "home offered" posts on Sighthounds online forum for Whippets/small Lurchers Good luck....she looks adorable Angela

All are welcome to apply. We don't do a first come first served priority, we do a best home for the doglet priority. So..... make sure they know she is here. Thanks.. J xx

Little Daisy is much improved over the last few days. Her weight is better - I was looking at her backbone in the streetlights and the shadows were less pronounced - and her coat is very much better - an improvement that must have started when she went into the pound. Food is getting left - admittedly not always the food in her bowl, but she is no longer eating everything in sight, so I shall start cutting back the amounts so she doesn't blow up.
She's getting a lot more confident and has started to come up for treats as a first part in giving her some recall. But her favourite pastime is sunbathing whenever possible.
She gets on well with the two house dogs and is no trouble. She looks at cats but with less interest than our two but we can't say she is cat friendly purely because she hasn't met any in a social setting.
She will need her second injections on 20 August and will need spaying at some stage. We will continue to get her used to coming when called around the garden then try her out off lead on the playing field when we think she is ready, which may be days or weeks.

There has been a bit of interest in Daisy.
The stunt kid here is getting too big. We need a smaller version of Mollie. Any chance of checking she is child-friendly John? ;D

I don't think we need flyers Mike. She has a lot of interest and is going for a walk at the weekend with one prospective family. So.... we wait and see ;D

I hope your friend keeps well and recovers swiftly if an operation is needed. I had a big one last October which restricted my activities for 6 - 8 weeks and I'm not sure how I would have coped without Mrs DADI - and no 1 son also helped Viv and I had a misunderstanding this morning. I thought she was suggesting that she dropped the lead so we could let Daisy mooch a bit. She thought I'd agreed that the time was right to let her off the lead. All went well ;D She trotted off to the trees and came back when bribed called with some edible encouragement. She play bows to our two, but they weren't interested last night. There is one odd thing to mention. For historical reasons our dogs share our room and this includes the fosters. Two sleep on dog beds at the foot of the bed and one (usually the foster) on a bed beside me. It means that they can't get into any mischief during the night. On Saturday night they couldn't sort themselves out - Jack wanted Honey's bed, Honey wanted Daisy's but when Daisy wanted to climb over the other two to get to Jack's bed, there was a bit of thunder - I think from Honey, aka Grumpydrawers. The result is that Daisy has preferred to spend the last two nights sleeping in the hall. There have been no problems at all, so as long as she has access to join us if she changes her mind, we're happy to let her sleep there. This should make life easier for those who don't like dogs in their bedrooms She is a likeable little dog (little compared with Jack and full size greyhounds, large compared with Mim, Sofi and whippets ) and I feel that she'd fit in almost anywhere.
