An update on little Rory. He went to see Anil on Friday as he is now clinically blind. He can only see shadows in one eye and the other eye is completely blind. Because of this he has been falling down and up kerbs and not keen on the street walks. I have had to start leaving him at home and take him out onto the field for a while instead. Anil checked his heart and it has got progressively worse, so I have reluctantly given in to him starting on Fortekor on a 14 day trial. He is also wetting his bed most nights. Anil has changed his Vet diet and hopefully with the exclusion of Vitamin K in his food, it may help. Anil feels that, having done a urine test, that the kidneys are functioning not too badly, but it may be down to senility that he is wetting himself. Poor little mite has sore gums again. His teeth are scaled, but not badly, but his gums are sore. Anil has put him on a course of A.B's again. This little man is around 14 years old. He has such a determination to be part of all that goes on.

Hugs to Rory, he is such a adorable chap with a feisty character. So pleased he is living out his days with you Jenny (he ended up doing a full circle so maybe it was meant to be!). Bless you for being there for him

He's hanging on in there. He has learnt his way around the house, and his regular walk to the woods. Bless him. He has written a little poem. I’m a big dog in a little body No-body gets one over me, I used to chase Lurchers, Labs and GS.D’s It was a doddle, I ran with ease. I used to growl and the siblings would move, I really scared them and got into the groove, But today I’m tired, and need my nap, Tomorrow, maybe I’ll growl and snap. And show them I still have the knack. But just now do not disturb... xxxx.

Rory continues to do well. He still loves his food and is so eager to go out for a potter a couple of times a day. I walk him round the front lawn and a little onto the field as he bumps into things and then gets disorientated. He is not on any heart meds yet as he perked up and we are glad we didn't start him on any. No rasping. He does walk around a lot but mainly because he is unsure whether any of the dog beds have residents in them. The bed wetting is much better since we introduced the beef and purina diet with some Lovejoys sensitive lamb, but the teeth continue to get more and more caked up. There is nothing we can do about that. Rory says he is not ready to give in to old age yet. xx
