No I haven't put any pics in yet - I did see it's for the July slot (Oldies) but presumed we could add until the choice / printing needs to be done I've been following him around with the camera and I was hoping to get the PERFECT knockout shot and don't feel I've quite nailed it yet! But if anyone spots it in anything I've posted, let me know I've got a few nice pics in the sets I downloaded today, so I'll make another FB album and post a link. Really, for a calender pic I need to use my big Sony to get better definition, as he will move when I point the camera at him and I rarely get a sharp pic! For the moment - here's a few showing the lovely fleeces which Sioux kindly made for Rory's little 'problem' The big cream fleece backed in green waterproof material, for the sofa: I've only needed to wash this once and it dried in no time Thank you SLR and Sioux! He much prefers to sleep on the sofa at night, and also sleeps deeply in the evening beside me, and that's when the occasional accident happens, so it's great to have this big fleece. It's well tucked in at the back. As you can see, Sir likes a cushion at either end for his head, please ... The smaller fleece, in tiger pattern with a red waterproof backing: This one is tucked round the cushion in Rory's downstairs basket since that's a b*stard to wash - it's got two big button-tucks in it and the material is very thick, and you have to take all the stuffing out... I keep a little rug over the tiger fleece, so I won't have to wash that too often, and we've had no accidents in that yet! And here we are sharing a chest rub on the sofa - he does love having his chest rubbed! He goes all soppy-floppy He tries to get over on his back but can't quite make it... I think that might be how he twinged his hips the other day! Oops, still a bit big, but I'll leave it for now... You can see his cataract here

Little Rory has come to stay with us for a while whilst his mum recovers from a broken ankle. Mend well soon Sara. Rory had a trip to the Vets yesterday where Anil sounded his heart, a grade 4, possibly bordering 5, but then little dogs do get a bit anxious at the vets. He has taken some bloods as little Rory has had a small leakage on deep sleep. As he does have some kidney issues Anil is checking up to see how he is doing. Poor little man, his teeth are now really in need of a scrape, but due to his condition Anil doesn't want to touch him until he is sure he can take it, likewise his nails. These are all conditions that he has had for some years. He has put him on anti-biotics for now until a decision can be made on sorting out those teeth. Rory is a lovey little chap, enjoying himself, missing his mummy Sara, but enjoyng all the new sights and sounds and sniffs. Oh and mummy, his coat is growing back. xxx

That's great news Jenny, so pleased to see it. I've got quite a few pics of his back in fact - I've been trying to track progress! I was determined to get rid of that patch, it's just a case of finding the right diet - sometimes it got better and we were almost there, and then he'd eat the wrong thing and almost immediately it would go black and lose hair again. but I know we'll get there in the end! Is his tummy nice and pink too? It's horrid when the black patches appear: he bites and nibbles at himself something awful I don't know what's happened to the pics in my last post above btw, I'll try posting them again! You can see the bigger fleece, cream with a dark green waterproof back, behind Rory. I leave that on the sofa and keep one of those little brown towels on top in case of accidents - I have four of them, 50p each at the Sally Army in Sudbury! they've been a Godsend as they're quite thick and absorbent, and just a nice Rory-size You can see how much he needs his nails clipped, but he's a dreadful wuss over it and really goes for anyone who tries (or is holding him ) Can't find the first pic, must have accidentally deleted it! PS He looks a really good weight now, something must be agreeing with him! I guess he's eating up better with all the other dogs around, in case they get it first!

Sorry for no updates folks on little Rory. We had the allergy tests done and his biggest allergy is house dust mites, followed by Trees and pollen and wheat products. He is mildly allergic to white fish and chicken as well, which is probably why he started to wee again here. We have kept him on Purina PH, which is going great and also the only meat he has is cooked beef mince. Fingers now crossed, but for the last two weeks he has not weed at night and so is back up in the bedroom at night. He has a lot more energy now his diet is settled, and bounces around for his dinner and jumps little logs in the woods. He doesn't have any scratching, or wiping his face anymore and his coat is growing lovely. Teeth are staying pretty clean with the Purina. We have had to stop any treats with wheat additives and he has hyper-allergenic Freewells, which Mims is also on. He can have a little lamb liver, which he also likes. He's continuing to be a lovely little chap who loves a fuss and likes to lick the yogurt pots. His eyesight is deteriorating, and Anil thinks he is now blind in one eye. His hearing seems to have improved, but that could be the same as Mim, that any flare up of an allergy manifests in the ears and affects the hearing. He certainly hears the dinner bowls being got out. He does snort now and then, but we think it mainly because he races around and then has to catch his breath. Rory and his old friend Esme.

Only just saw this - soooo happy to have an update and to see Rory looking so relaxed with Esme. I love to think of them keeping one another company. Does he wear his jimjams at all? - I never tried them on him as it was so warm when they arrived
So glad he's stopped weeing again - I def found he was best on beef and rice, with a bit of bought kibble/dry of some sort. I'm allergic to house-mites myself btw so I do a lot of hoovering and bed washing and shaking!
Progress: I started sleeping upstairs again this week, and I got the car back a couple of weeks ago but I'm still quite unsteady on my pins due the lack of flexibility... which makes me very easily knocked over still. And I still can't walk very far... But I'm coming along fast now and there seems to be better flexibility in the foot and ankle day by day, and very little real pain now. And I managed to walk (slowly) round quite a bit of Sudbury yesterday to the banks and supermarket ... So things are looking up!
Let me know Jenny meanwhile, if you need the other waterproof fleece Sioux sent - it's quite a bit smaller than the green backed one. I feel dreadful not to be able to help when you've had such a tough time recently

I've just been chatting to Jenny about Rory, and I have to say now I'm feeling so much better I'm missing him a lot! The foot is gaining flexibility day by day and I'm walking further and better - stairs sill a big pain, but no doubt practice will make... an improvement! ;D An I can stand for quite a long time as I proved washing up for the Village Christmas Lunch, and then helping out over Xmas for three nights at one of the local 'big houses'. So all in all it shouldn't be too long now before I can contemplate having the Ror back. Meanwhile, I was looking through some old pics of him, and thought this little set of him helping out at the Munnings Museum during the summer might amuse you! The Museum is in the artist's old house at Dedham, has a great cafe, and makes a very good day out esp as it was left in Lady Munnings' will for the Trust, that dogs would always be made welcome Standing by the Archive room (our usual haunt) at the top of the stairs, with one of his best friends, Beth, who is Munnings' Gt Niece and was paying a visit from the USA (and stayed with us) Ushering us down the stairs to help with what's going on down there... Supervising the packing of some paintings for an exhibition overseas... "I think there's someone at the main door - just off to check OK?"

Sadly, Sara's injury is taking it's toll on her and is sore. She feels that it could take quite a bit longer to be in a position to walk any dog again, and has come to the sad decision that she shouldn't have Rory back. I hope that Sara gets some improvement in her ankle soon as I know she loves to walk with her friends and this was the reason that she wanted a dog, to be able to walk and enjoy the countryside. Best wishes Sara. x

Oh Sara, I'm so sorry! That must have been a really difficult decision to make. But well done you for putting Rory's needs ahead of your own feelings. *big hugs*
Rory was the dog that first drew me to SLR, you know. Such a lovely little man! xxx
