Holly-Berry is certainly coming out of her shell so to speak and everything in the world is wonderful She's learned the delights of food and now wolfs her breakfast & dinner down and eagerly waits for Dylan to leave her some of his She also knows where the treat tins are and bounces over all the others to get to them first....this is currently being adressed as it's not her most politest of habits This is the gang helping me open some of their Christmas presents As you can see there is no waiting at the back for Holly anymore!! I've started to take her for longer lead walks as she pulls like a steam train She is just sooooooo nosy!! Everything and everyone is interesting and she needs to get to it yesterday.. Of all my dogs Dexter is the most perfect on the lead so he comes with us in the hope of showing her how it's done. I'm going to try a halti on her this evening to see if that help - we've tried her on a harness but that just makes her worse and I don't have a much control. She continues to be a delight in the house and in general though. I can definintely see her as an only dog as she doesn't really have any due care and attention when walking through the house and thinks nothing of trampling all over the others, or lying on top of them if they are where she wants to be I'm so going to miss this one

Here's a little video of our Holly Berry having a rough & tumble with Reggie-Reg this morning Just click on the picture to see it.. Oh soooooo noisy!! Thankfully after a good run over the field today where she got horrendously muddy and had to be hosed down she's settled down for the night.. stop looking up my nose... I do fit in this chair.. I've never known a dog dream as much as Holly does...pretty much everytime she settles she's off in her own little dream world. I keep trying to video her as it's so funny at times when she's kicking and barking and whining and blowing her cheeks out. This vid will give you a bit of an idea of what she's like

I'm afraid that in an email this morning the prospective Adopters for Holly are having second thoughts. The wife of the Adopters has a bad back and they are worried that Holly will be strong on the lead and her back will not be able to take the strain.

Such a shame, are they willing to try a halti with her on visit to see if that helps? x

To be honest Holly is a great lump of a dog and she is very strong so if they have any doubts at all I'm pleased they have said now We are working on he with a halti and although it does help she is still 30kg of dog to move around and when she wants something she's very determined When I walk her on her own she's much better as she's not trying to compete with another dog but she's still interested in everything so I totally understand their reasoning. She's absolutely fine here and my lot love her anyway, well all apart from Shylo as Holly keeps sitting on her She's a good as gold in the house and such a loving hound that wants cuddles as often as possible please, no matter what you're in the middle of, if Holly wants a cuddle Holly's coming for a cuddle I was studying last night so had my laptop and all my college books and course work out and Holly decided my lap was the place she wanted to be so a break in study was enforced upon me and Holly sat ontop of me, the laptop and all my books... lol There is no way you can mind though as she just gives you the softest eyes and buries her head in you that you can't help but laugh Mark went out last night leaving me with the dogs for the evening and this is the first time she's been in the house with just me there and she was a little perplexed as to where he'd gone. The lovely new toys that Carol sent over helped a lot as she pounced around the lounge with a mini football in her mouth for a solid 30 mins.... but when Mark got in about 11.30pm she was soooooooo pleased to see him, it was adorable

I have a back condition and a 30kg breeze block of a dog and it is hard work to move her around, and god help me if she has seen a cat The right home will come along and in the meantime Karla and Mark are loving every minute with her

A friend of mine in the UK who has very strong German Shepherds (35kgs) pets, uses this collar and says out of all the collars on the market this one does what it says on the tin www.dogmatic.org.uk/maybe this might help ?

Those collars look great Gill, I might think about one of those - in the meantime Holly is getting better on the lead all the time. She's just so darn excited about everything that she gets carried away bless her. I've been walking her with treats and everytime she looks at me she gets a treat and she's starting to get the idea and pays a lot more attention to me than her surroundings now so we'll get there with her Holly needs rules & boundaries otherwise she will push her luck - not in a bad way at all - again she just gets over excited For example she's allowed on the sofas and beds etc but when we go to bed she has to sleep on her bed... most nights she has been attempting to get up on our bed and we have to tell her again that she must sleep on her bed, it's just that one attempt as if she thinks we won't notice her Well for the last week she has got the idea completely and goes straight to her bed and settles immediately We've had to start opening the wardrobe doors though as she dreams so much she 'tap dances' on the mirrored doors - they are sliding doors so it's not an issue at all. We've been trying to get her to sit but not really having a lot of success, she knows 'down' now though so perhaps this is all we'll get from her She's really started to run with the others now and loves a game of chase. She does get a bit carried away with Reggie though and tries to catch him a bit too much Thankfully little man is very feisty so tells her off but we're not encouraging this as I don't want her to do it to strange small dogs.. We've discovered the prey drive too and she is definitely not cat or small furry friendly!! In the house she 'might' be trained to ignore as she's pretty laid back indoors but anything outside is fair game He recall is coming along brilliantly now that she knows her name and she really is a good girl out and about I'm taking her on the SLR walk on Sunday to give her a good romp through the forest ;D I'll try to remember the camera and get some outdoor shots of her (as long as it's not raining too hard!!) In the meantime..... now you see me... Now you don't...
