Oscar is waking up later and later to go for his early morning wee! Yesterday it was about 5am, and this morning it was almost 6am before he stirred. Result!! He's booked in on Thursday for his vaccinations. He continues to be a perfect house guest.

Oscar went back to his final neutering check today and all has healed fabulously. He had his first vax and hardly noticed a thing. He's such a good boy. Woke us up at 6am for an early morning wee, and then came back and settled down in his bed until the alarm clock went off an hour later. He's zonked out on the sofa now, as he had a good run off lead this afternoon after his all clear from the vet! He had missed a good leg stretch - and is super duper fast!! He recalls well with the other dogs, but no idea if he would come back on his own. I expect he would as he is very much into his people. Gorgeous handsome boy.

It's official. ;D Oscar gives the bestest snuggliest cuddles I have ever known! ;D I am so going to miss him and his snuggling. He just loves human contact. Here are some photos from the last few days. He continues to be perfect. He was a little subdued yesterday as he and Buddy had a bit of an altercation - but he has bounced back today. Snuggling in behind Tony on the sofa ..... Looking for Christmas presents with foster bro Max ..... In the garden .... Exhausted after all the excitement of Christmas ..... And finally proof that he is super snuggly. A Christmas cuddle with me to sleep off all that turkey ......

Oscar had a busy day yesterday with several of my cousins visiting, plus their Welsh Springer spaniel - but he took it all in his stride and loved snuggling up to everyone, and playing with Whiskee the springer! He slept through until 7am today without needing to go for a wee ;D so that's great! They are all flaked out still now, after a hearty breakfast, because the house was busy yesterday afternoon and evening which obviously interrupted their serious snoozing!

Time I think for some more pics and another Oscar update. It's lovely to see foster dogs settling in and finding their feet. He is becoming very cheeky, but in a nice way. He's much more playful and loves emptying out the toy basket and running around like a mad thing with a squeaky toy! He is getting much better at resisting the urge to jump up. It's very endearing as he is so gentle, but we are aware there are people tht can't abide jumping up, so he needs to curb this habit. He catches on very quickly. If you ignore him he sits nicely and looks at you waiting for a fuss. He sits nicely to wait for his lead or his coat to be put on. Also his PJ fleece at night time. His favourite place is the kitchen. If he thinks it is time for breakfast or dinner he hangs around near the cupboard where the dog food is kept, giving whistful sniffs and nudging the door. Last night he wasn't at all bothered by the New Year celebration fireworks nearby. No reaction at all - even went out for a wee in the garden whilst all the noise was going on. Here are some more pics. Someone please adopt this wonderful boy soon ... we are getting far too attached to him, and him to us. Another snuggly pic ... Perfecting his "Princess Di" look ....... Hmmmm - the kitchen bin ...... Interesting smells in there! Anything to eat up there? Any food on those plates yet? I know I'm not meant to do this, but how about I jump up for a quick fuss?

He is such a bright little lad. He is very anxious to please and tends to sit a lot and look at us as if to say "look how good I'm being" - knowing that he gets praise for sitting nicely and quietly! Sometimes with 4 dogs waiting for their food to be dished up it gets a bit hectic - this evening Tony was preparing the food and he came in to me in the living room and sat nicely next to me on the sofa. Bless! He can be a bit OTT with wanting attention - he tries to push in front of our three if they are having a fuss with a bit of a "me, me, me!!" attitude. But we are working on ignoring him and fussing him when he settles down quietly elsewhere. He's just young, exuberant and desperate for some love - but because he is so bright it is easy to train him out of his less desirable habits. He continues to be perfect in every respect. He hasn't got a bad bone in his body, loves people, dogs and children, adores cuddles, settles down in his bed at 11pm and if he stirs before we wake he goes back to his bed and sleeps some more! He is perfect! Recall needs to be worked on. He gets so excited if he sees another dog in the distance, and bombs over to greet it at top speed if not distracted or put on lead! He will come back, but in his own time when he has finished playing with the other dog. But ours used to be like this at first and they are a lot better now.

We've been working on his recall to the whistle, with the help of treats, and he comes back every time, but is still easily distracted by dogs in the distance. Once he has greeted them he comes straight back, but this does need to be worked on. He will now sit on command, and obey if you tell him to go and lie down. He lifts his paws without being asked so we can wipe them with a towel when he comes in from the garden. He jumps straight in to the back of the car. He went out in the pouring rain today and didn't give a fig about the weather! After the walk he enjoyed a good rub down with a towel and snuggled up next to me on the sofa to get warm and dry.

Me neither Jenny. I thought he would go very quickly. Here's a photo of the extremely handsome Oscar still waiting for his forever home. And waiting ......... and waiting ................ And having another snuggle whilst he is waiting (my son will kill me for posting this photo!) ...... For a young dog he is soooo laid back. When he's not out on a walk he is the biggest couch potato ever!! He has never chewed a single thing in the house - apart from the toys and chews that he is allowed to. He does still jump up when he's excited - not so much with us now but he will try to launch himself at new people. I think this is more about wanting to be noticed immediately rather than boisterousness, and if you make it clear it's unacceptable he soon stops. My friend came round today and met Oscar for the first time - she fell in love with him and it was all I could do to stop her stealing him away! He has that effect on people.
