Good morning Just a quick update on Billy before he leaves to have his bits removed at the vets.
Everything is still going really well and absolutely no problems at all.
He has just started to chase a ball and has picked it up a couple of times. Even better than that he has started to play. As I sit here right now he and Pinky are sliding in and out of the rooms chasing one and other or Pinky on the settee so that she has an equal advantage because of Billy's height. I don't expect they will be doing that for a couple of days!
I am sure Billy will take his operation in his stride and soon bounce back and continue to enjoy his life even more.

I picked Billy up a shot while ago and he is as well as could be expected. He has a light tea and is now laying flat out on the floor. I have tried to get him to lay some where more comfortable but I think he is used to laying on the floor.
He is still a bit groggy but I am sure in the morning he will be nearly back to normal.

Billy had his two day check up a couple of days ago and all was well. Stitches to come out on Friday.
He is coming along in leaps and bounds. Every day he gets more confident and yesterday he finally worked out how to get on our bed in the morning. It is getting pretty full on the bed now, if we have any more dogs we will have to upgrade to a 6' one.!
He is the easiest dog ever and there is nothing bad about him, Although he did stroll into the lounge over the weekend with a full size bagette protruding out of both sides of his mouth. He looked so funny. Any other lurcher would have sneaked off to somewhere quiet to eat it, but he is so honest he doesn't know sneakiness yet.

;D ;D ;D Well, the future plan around our dogs was to NEVER have more than 4 dogs. 4 is a good number to have for us.
When decided that when we were down to 3 dogs again we would look for a young, small, female, with enough energy to keep up with Pinky.
The reality is that we have fallen in love with Billy (big, young, and a boy). Hmm. Still at least he is young and knows how to keep Pinky happy and he is not really that big (26-27").
Yes you have guessed we have failed.
Billy has settled in so well here with the other 4 and they all get on really well. Even Torrie my 14 year old rough coat will allow him to lay next to her and even let him snuggle up. Torrie has never done this with any other new dog.
His happiness rubs off on all of us, he is such a pleasure to have around and when Jenny said we could keep him, I had absolutely no doubt that we were doing the right thing for us and more importantly for Billy. He just fits in so well and is so happy.
It just goes to prove that no one should have a picture in their mind of what sort of dog they want to rehome. If anyone had said to me 3 weeks ago that your next dog would be a big, black boy I would have said 'no way'.
So many people who are looking for a new lurcher have in mind a rough coated, female, of medium size but what is important is whether the dog is right for you, your family, your dogs and not forgetting, of course right for the new dog.
Elaine and Bruce
PS I have lent my camera to my grandson to take on holiday but as soon as I get it back I post some new photos of Billy and his new family.

What's a card reader? You are talking to people here who were in their prime in the swinging sixties you know.!
Of course we will continue to foster.
We can't download the photos as the cable for our camera does not fit your camera. Phew, that's saved any embarassment when we do it wrong.
We will get the camera back to Jenny asap.
