Thanks Kate, I really appreciate your comments. I was so proud of her yesterday, she really managed to overcome her fears and I have a feeling she really enjoyed herself!! 8-)Thanks to Karla for lending Ginny a nice lightweight muzzle :-*and thanks to Sally for pulling Ginny out of a stinking muddy ditch Still need some work on the recall though - her and Millie are like a couple of naughty "children" - egging each other on , at least they come back eventually Ginny had also visited my brothers house (lives in New Milton) before we met up with everyone for the Jenny Walk, and he has 2 dogs. It was a bit tense at their house, as his dogs are very protective of their domain, but Ginny did handle herself well in the end (and left their cat alone!), so she had quite a stressful day but was still up for a walk on the way home!

Ginny started her season on Thursday, so on calendar to book her in for spaying at beginning of October!! Luckily we have a small enclosed park near us so I am able to let her off there safely to get rid of some energy!!

Hi All, Just thought I would do an update and add a few (!) new photos of Ginny. Ginny has just finished her season (last one!) and is pencilled in to have her op in October. I feel that now we have got her injury and her season out the way, the real work can begin!!! Due to her being lead walked and only let off in enclosed fields she has taken a step back in her socialisation with other dogs. She has twice run up to other dogs to literally pounce on them with snarling and growling thrown in! I have now got a new muzzle which she will be wearing off the lead. Ginny is very quick to learn, she is really good at recall (when she is not distracted by anything else!!!), sit, down and giving her paw. I am going to start taking her to dog obedience classes soon, the next intake is September however the trainer is considering allowing me to start her early but I won't know for definate until Monday evening. We have put into place strong boundaries and Ginny likes to push them as much as possible. We are having a dominance competion which I WILL win. She has some food aggression towards Millie but not me, I randomly pick up her bowl or take a biscuit off her just to show her I can, but if Millie goes near she gets growled at. She always has her meal last, always last in and out of the house and car, always last to have a treat, sounds a bit mean but she would walk all over us if we allowed her to. Counter surfing (or my desk surfing) has been a bit of a problem, Chris brought me some Malteasers and I went out to pay the window cleaner and came back to find Ginny with her head in the bag munching her way through them, Not impressed to say the least, but my own fault for leaving them in reach!! However all said, Ginny is gorgeous, she is very loving, just wants to please, she is a real pleasure to have and she is so very much loved. She has slotted into our family as if she has always belonged. Anyway here is the photos of my beautiful girl :

I have met her a couple of times and the lead aggression is just fear .... may be we should do another off lead walk at manor farm to help her go forwards She is such a little sweety who had such a hard life - i am so glad you love her rachel - she is a very very special little girl .... and its so nice to see her friends with 'Milly Fox Poo' xxxxxx

Hey Rachel - have you been polishing her? She looks so shiney in the sun. As Kate says, a nice off lead walk at Manor Farm will do her the world of good now her season is over. ( And Angus won't need a cold shower!) Hope to see you soon. ;D

Aah, thanks for the update, I'd been wondering how you were getting on. It's not surprising her aggression has been getting worse again, because as you say she's been restricted in her socialisation for obvious reasons! Now that's all over with, I'm sure you'll make great progress again. She's very lucky to have you..... Oh, and nearly forgot to say - she's looking fantastic! ;D

Aaah thanks for your comments everyone, glad you noticed I had got the Pledge out Romi Ginny has been over our local park for an hour yesterday morning and we met up with our local dog walking friends and their pooches again, Ginny was a bit full on but after being put in her place a couple of times and despite having the constant attention of Millie's boyfriend Nelson (trying to mount her!!) she did really well. Today she was a lot better (and Nelson didn't try to mount her!), she seems to have some collie in her as she likes to herd other dogs especially when they are chasing the ball, she runs after them barking!! She also a pacer, as soon as she knows she is going out for a walk she starts pacing back and forth back and forth (not sure if this a collie trait??) After all the lead walking she has had I have seen a great improvement, which is a relief for my arm and shoulder!! She tried climbing our fence yesterday because her and Millie cornered a cat and when it went over the fence Ginny thought she would follow - luckily she slide back down (also lucky for the cat ) To the Hampshire Posse: would be great to have a get together at Manor Farm when it has cooled down a bit, need to do as much socialisation as possible with her Thanks Jayne & Jenny for finding me a real treasure

Lovely update rachel .... reckon its gonna be a bit too hot over the next few months but if we suddenly get a cool weekend (which is very possible in this country) will get in touch for a walk. On another note i know that romi walks up Manor Farm every day rain or shine, so i am sure she would be happy to meet up Take care and those gorgeous girls for me xxx

Brilliant update Rachel ;D So great to see Ginny flourishing in your care. As Jayne said, it's completely unsurprising that her recent spell of restricted contact with other hounds has left Ginny a few steps back with her confidence. I'm sure that a few walks with SLR buddies will have her back on track in no time Hope to meet up again with you all sometime soon. You're doing a stunning job with this little girl. Hugs to you and ear ruffles to Ginny and, of course, Ms Millie-Fox-Poo Audrey x

Ginny seems be coming on leaps and bounds. Her war wounds are healing nicely so that is good, will always keep a jar of Manuka honey in the cupboard!! We start training on August 4th. Ginny now weighs 17.7 kg. This evening she was over our local park with 6 other dogs + Millie and didn't have her muzzle on and she was brilliant, playing with all the other dogs (including Great Dane, staffie x, rottie/doberman x, 2 mini JRT's) it was fantastic to watch - wish I had my camera, will take next time! She really is building up her confidence, I am so very proud of her. Now just have to get some ear plugs for her, as she is barking several times a night because the foxes are climbing over our fence and of course with the hot weather we have had the bedroom window open so she is waking up each time and letting the neighbourhood know!

Yesterday was our 3 month anniversary with Ginny And what an eventful 3 months is has been: Socialisation problems 2 days after having her cut foot, 3 weeks in bandages Season plant food out of watering can Bitten by another dog - 2 small scars on face Had a spat with her foster brother (oh our dreams were shattered Jayne!) Bit my neighbour Now on Anti-F's and x-rays on Monday due to problem with leg/shoulder Still to go on her first holiday in September to the Peak District. Still to be Spayed in October. However I wouldn't give her up for the world, yes I have had times when I wonder if we have done the right thing adopting her, but when she cuddles up to me, or runs back to me, or wags her tail even, I know that we have done the right thing. Ginny is a wonderful girl and we love her to bits I am so glad we have adopted her and she is part of our family
