Just an update to say that Ginny is doing really well. She has been so much better with other dogs over the weekend, she met Millie's "boyfriend" Nelson this morning and there was no growling just wanting to play with him straight away, which was lovely to see. I was made up as Millie and Nelson were rescued within a week of each other and have been buddies ever since, so for Ginny and him also to take to each other was great. Felt confident enough as well to take off Ginny's muzzle and she was fine and greeted 3 other dogs with wagging tail and wanting to play. Foot is healing well, another visit to vets tomorrow. Cannot get a bandage to stay on for any length of time, as soon as she starts playing, off it comes. She leaves it alone when it is on though, so no buster collar needed! We have our first training session at 7 p.m. tonight so treats are ready!

Aaaah how lovely for Ginny to be in Happy Endings, brought a few tears to my eyes!! ;D Ginny did really well at training , a lot of hard work ahead but I think Ginny will pick it up well (I think it us humans that need the training really!!) . We hope to start classes in 4 weeks when the new class starts. Looking forward to it, but we have homework in the meantime! Ginny back to vets later today to have foot checked, I am not too happy as it looks as if she has a sore between her toes, so I am concerned we may need to have more anti-biotics . I will be so glad when stitches are out and it is all healed, feel she is being held back due to it. Ginny herself is an absolute joy, always got a wagging tail and lick for you, she is great fun and has absolutely won our hearts.

Wonderful to see her over in happy endings - just where she deserves So pleased to hear things are going well Rachel and she's not too bothered by the muzzle the more confident you are in her the more confident she'll be. Good luck with the training classes - and the homework Can't wait to meet her xx

Visit to Vets resulted in them putting on one of their wonderful useless bandages and informing me that it had to stay on for 2 days at least as the wound was healing slowly. It might mean that Ginny's stitches don't come out on Friday. I had seen an idea on the internet of using a balloon to hold in place the bandage and I did that today with great results (except I didn't cover her claws and 1 popped through - see photo below, might also melt in the heatwave!), however vet not impressed!! Took Ginny out for a walk and some homework training, result bandage is half hanging off!! .............and stretch!! Jayne - you can still see her stubble and she is weighing over 16 kg - couldn't get the right weight as the scales kept moving but never went under the 16 kg - result!

2 WEEKS ANNIVERSARY ;D Can't believe Ginny has been with us 2 weeks. Today I have kicked myself black and blue, because I should have taken a camera over our park this morning. The photos would have shown Ginny playing happily (with no muzzle) with 2 Staffies and a Staffie x, then photos of her playing with a collie cross. Also her greeting and playing with 2 other dogs and being less and less scared of a Great Dane. 5 of these dogs she had never met before this morning, and to none of them did she growl, bark or bare her teeth at. She met most of them confidently and with a wagging tail. I am so proud of her! I felt really confident that she could handle herself and when she wasn't sure she gave a wide berth (i.e. the Great Dane) but over time she allowed the dog to get closer and closer to her and at one time was bowing and trying to get the other dog to play. Her and Millie play so well together as well and it is great to see them both partaking in classic lurcher play. My friends have been quite amazed to see the transformation in Ginny from how she was 2 weeks ago. I love my "girls" (except when they are digging up my garden!)

what a wonderful update! she is coming on in leaps and bounds, well done ! you must be so pleased and proud, glad she is gaining confidence, it sounds like you have built up a strong sense of trust with her already which I am sure is helping her come out of her shell and feel less nervous and worried when out and around other dogs, hope she continues to do so well and enjoy herself now, glad she is feeling able to play with her new doggy friends and not be so scared

Sorry Rachel, things have been a bit hectic here this week and I've only just seen the photo of Ginny roaching - glad to see she's still stubbly!! She looks very happy though, and I'm so pleased her confidence around dogs has grown so much already. It seems hard to believe she's only been with you two weeks, as she's come on such a long way. Big hug to all of you

Brilliant update Rachel! ;D Just great that Ginny is coming along in such speedy leaps and bounds with her confidence with other dogs, just 2 weeks and what an unbelievable improvement!!! You must be both proud and relieved! You and Chris and Millie are working wonders with young Ginny. The photo of her roaching still has me choked up. Keep up the great work. Ear ruffles and hugs all round from me. Look forward to meeting up with you again soon Audrey x

Stitches out and bandage off today ;D Ginny seems none the worse for her plant food drinking episode, might have helped actually she weighed a whopping 16.90 kg on the scales at the vets today I am finding out what it is like to have a young lurcher in the house again - my favourite gardening clogs have now had to go in the bin, my garden is looking like it has been bombed, my house is constantly untidy (well my husband would say that is nothing unusual! ), but I wouldn't change my mind about Ginny, she is a little mischievious darling and I love her to bits!

I can sympathise with the "garden being bombed" look! What is it with lurchers and digging? It's almost like "to catch a rabbit you have to think like a rabbit" which invariably involves attempting to dig burrows!
