Emmy has come into SLR from her own home. Her elderly owner was unable to cope with walking out with Emmy, and since her companion dog died Emmy has become depressed and unfit. Emmy is just over 8 year's old. She is neutered and vaccinations up to date. She did love her departed human Dad, and since he died she has detached herself from life. She needs that spark back in her life. Could you be the ones to give her it back. Emmy is being fostered in Southampton with Claire and her family. Claire has put her on a bit of a diet to help get her back into shape. x

I have had the delightful Emmy for 24 hours and she is a sweetheart! Things I know for sure. #1. She is fine with the hoover #2. Walks nicely on the lead #3. Not interested in horses or donkeys but likes squirrels! #4. Not bothered by traffic #5. Totally clean #6. Loves her food #7. Was anxious initially with my greyhounds but fine now. Also good with small dogs. #8. Travels well. #9. She cuddles and snogs but prefers back/bottom scratches #10. Sleeps well in her own bed in our bedroom. #11. Is child friendly. Emmy has suffered alot of loss and upheavel, she will need time to adjust. When she is rehomed she will require someone who is around alot of the time. I will be helping her gradually get used to being left alone for short periods. I have already seen moments of the happy little girly she will be in a short time, I know Emmy will be a wonderful member for a special family.

Emmy is beginning to interact and be playful. She's on a training lead but she doesn't go far from us and comes back when called. Resting after all the exercise!

Emmy went to the vets for her booster jabs, she mixed happily with all breeds of dogs that came in. No howling when vaccinated. We gave her a nice bath when she got home. So far I've not seen anything of concern. The vet said she has a good steady heart rate considering she is 'portly' :-D She weighed in at 21.8kg I'm not certain of her ideal weight but a few kilos off around the middle for sure. It won't take long with all the extra exercise she's getting. I forgot to mention, she knows a few commands. Stay, wait, sit (occassionally!) down ... just an allround lovely hound.

I feel like I may be getting repetative but I will keep singing Emmy's praises. She has been here for a week now and it's like she has been here forever. Today we had a walk up the common and there was a hairy lurcher and five whippets running around. Jethro and Patch were playing and chasing but Emmy just watched without pulling or barking, I think if I let her off she would've played but she was content to oversee the play. We had an incident where one of Chris' carers left the door open because we had a delivery and Emmy went through but didn't attempt to run. Again on our dog walk, she managed to get out of the car before I had attached her lead and she came straight to me when I called her. In a few weeks I would have no concern in letting her off. She loves to be near her human and will check with you during the walk. As the week has gone on, Emmy has become more relaxed and playful. She brings her tug toy for you and will jump around with glee if she finds a decent stick to throw in the air. Although she is 7, she is very young in her physical abilities, she walks quite happily for miles.

She sounds like a great dog to have a relaxing long walk with. The perfect dog!. I wish I was looking she would be a lovely dog to pair with Flo!!. Calm , steady but playful . Mushy was like this and she rubbed off well onto Flo. Look forward to your updates. I don't think it will be long until Emmy finds her home. Can't see picture my end!?! Xx
