Sid was in holding kennels and so sad. He had been there a few weeks with no-one taking any interest in giving him a home, so we have brought him into foster. He is initially staying with Barney and after neutering next week will travel with Donna down to Caroline in Cornwall. Sid is a lovely boy. Around 24" to the shoulder, and probably saluki x whippet. He is a gorgeous off white and orange and lemon colour. He was scared when he first met us but absolutely no aggression. Just collapsed into submission. And when we arrived at the complex where Barney lives one of his neighbours came over and Sid took a shine to her, kissing her.

Oh my, he looks so much like my Fred and dear departed Jack. Same expression when we saved Fred from the pound. Gorgeous.

Lovely, lucking boy. Sid, not Barney. Well, come to think of it, I bet Barney's happy too! Great work all.

Same face as Hermy only without the black scarring. So pleased that this poor boy is now under SLR's wing.

Please excuse what will probably be a disjointed record of young Sid's initial foray out of the holding kennels.
I say "young" Sid, since he's not quite as old as we first thought, in fact Jenny & I reckon that he's probably less than 18 months old. He is quite scrawny & in need of fleshing out a bit.
Sid is a little nervous at being approached, but by no means terrified. He enjoys a fuss, & he has a lovely long waggy tail with an appealing curve in it. He is very inquisitive, & has carefully examined the kitchen & bathroom worktops, (i.e. he's a bit of a countersurfer ), & he tried to remove my dressing gown from its hook in the bedroom. He also made a nest in the bathroom with the bath mat & a towel.
When he first entered the home-kennel he began marking everywhere, but has not transgressed since then, nor has he been destructive. Sid is rubbing along nicely with Winnie & Annie, but they both told him off when he tried to get a tad too familiar with their rear ends.
We've been out for a couple of walks, & the lad does pull like a train, but on the plus side there were no problems with meeting other dogs in the park.
Sid is endowed with a lovely temperament, & with a bit of basic training he'll make some lucky person a super companion.

Aww, bless this little boy. He is probably still a little confused and can't quite believe his luck that someone has shown an interest in him, Barney, but I'm sure Annie and motherly Winnie will very soon help him to settle in nicely. And thank you for taking him in. PS: A small hand full of cooked pasta mixed with his normal meals during the day should soon make him looking a bit 'fatter' before his operation and do him good, uncle Barney.

He looks adorable... you know I'm a sucker for the 'closed down' ones. I'm looking forward to giving him a hug or two myself.

One or two further observations on the boy........... Sid continues to be a happy chappy whose tail sometimes appears to have a mind of its own. In spite of his skinny frame the lad is extremely strong & really does pull on the lead whenever we're out. This is a tad inconvenient, since I managed to break my finger yesterday - the one that was left incomplete following the Staffie attack two years ago. Howsomever, this trait can of course be corrected by firm training & probably the use of a halti.
Sid has a good appetite, but he's not over-fussed about treats: mebbe I've not found the ones that hit the spot yet, but there's quite a variety in the home-kennel, which we'll work our way through, doubtless much to the delight of Winnie & Annie! I'll attempt to get some decent photos of him tomorrow, hopefully including him roaching, at which he is a consummate expert!

Sorry about your finger too. I hope it does not give you too much grief. Lucky Sid, I look forward to this young man's updates and photos. Let us hope he will do less as he settles down!

OUCH! Finger breaking is PAINFUL. Don't think that'll slow down El Barney. Nope - been there a few times already, & as 'tis my left hand there'll be no problems pouring out a glass or three of (medicinal) Oz red.
