Edna is currently on the Isle of Wight. We are going to try to rehome her from her own home. Her elderly owners took her on two year's ago when they felt more agile, from a friend, as they did not want to see her go just anywhere, but recently have both had motability problems and feel that Edna needs someone more agile to spend the rest of her life with. Fran has been and met Edna and assessed her and this is what Fran had to say. Edna is a sweetie as Godfrey said. He got her about 2 years ago from a friend due to the friend's personal reasons. She lived with 2 other dogs at the time. She’s fine off lead in a secure area, recall a typical lurcher, comes back when she’s ready if there’s something interesting going on!! She’s not cat friendly. Fine with cattle & sheep. Will need neutering when she comes in. Takes treats very gently and no sign of food aggression, took treats right next to Dobby. Usually fed daily Dr Johns Silver Kibble and 1/2 a smoked mackerel (prefers fish to meat). Raw meaty bone once a week. She had a little grumble at Dobby when they first met but we were on her property and they very quickly wanted to play. Godfrey is a lovely man and at 80 clearly wants what’s best for Edna - he’s not too steady on his legs. Here are a few photos of Edna.

She is obviously loved. Such a shame they can't be supported in keeping her. :-(

She is obviously loved. Such a shame they can't be supported in keeping her. :-( The Cinnamon Trust may be able to help find a volunteer walker that could help.

I think the problem is more than walking. She cane be tripped over as well. It is such a shame. But I am sure her owners want the best for her.

An update from Kate.
"She was understandably a bit unsettled and pining last night, although a long walk helped, but a bit of a disturbed night, especially for my daughter. She was obviously a gentle giant and just feeling everything was very new. I've taken her on a couple of massive walks today with our lurcher, and she was very easy and happily is now exhausted. Also she's been eating better today, although not she's not eating the food she came with. We're going to check her in with the vet tomorrow. I don't know if you have spoken to Goddards yet about her being neutered? We're taking care that our dog doesn't have her nose put out of joint. So far no hostility!"

she's such a beautiful girl. It must be hard for her to be uprooted and not sure what is happening, but it sounds like the walks have made a real difference.

Edna is such a beautiful girl but may need a little bit more time to get used to/sette into a new/different life/different surroundings? It may all be so new to her and I can appreciate that her live used to be at a much slower pace? Some extra cuddles and lots of re-assurance, maybe? It may also be worth adjusting her new diet gradually?

Her relinquishing owner told me that she used to be a farm dog in Yorkshire , so her new life is very different. Hope she soon starts to settle.
